Project Summary
European house of games was a common project of the Voluntary association of municipalities of Microregion of Valašskomeziříčsko-Kelečsko from the Czech Republic and the town of Partizánske from the Slovak Republic. The town Valašské Meziříčí, as the centre of the Microregion Valašskomeziříčsko-Kelečsko, has been cooperating with the town Partizánske and in 2014 both towns signed the partnership agreement.
Objective of the project was to create the conditions for meaningful and unconventional use of free time of youths. Project was aimed at creating of the fun but educational activities and at ensuring adequate material and technical equipment for implementation of those activities. Target group of the project comprised of young people aged 13 to 18 years, especially those who were affected by the socio-pathological phenomena. Project outputs were also used by national minorities, especialy Romanies, unorganized bored youth, disabled youth and vulnerable groups of young people (for example in the case of early school leaving).
Project contained two phases. The project staff and youth first manufactured games and created methodology sheets. They together created the European house of games. Then it was open and used by youth in free time for their informal education. Realization of project included training of youth workers and also of youths.
Youth from the Microregion of Valašskomeziříčsko-Kelečsko and the town of Partizánske manufactured with workers of project 3 sets of games. First set was a permanent part of youth organization from Valašské Meziříčí called Klub Vrtule. Two sets of games were mobile – the first one for the town of Partizánske and the second one for municipalities of Microregion of Valašskomeziříčsko-Kelečsko. Each set consisted from 5 games about Europe. Emphasis were placed on interactivity of games, educational ability and attractiveness for young people. Project staff organized also interactive workshops called Kaleidoskop. These meetings for visitors in European house of games were based on exchange of experience and information on Europe (geographical and also political).
Implementation of the project promoted non-formal education. Young people acquired knowledge about Europe and they strengthened their logical thinking. Youth was encouraged to further self-education.
