Project Summary
Our project is led by the Cité Scolaire Internationale Europole de Grenoble, France, with its partner schools in Romania, Bulgaria and Lithuania.
It concerns year 8 to 12 pupils (aged 13 to 16).
Each partner’s city and its neighbouring metropolis provides a source of study to be broached by workgroups from the common angles of history – migration, landmarks, urban heritage – economic activity and sustainable development policies, as well projections in local, national and European perspectives.
In addition to its national language, each partner school already teaches and works in several other languages — Arabic, English, Italian, German, Portuguese and Spanish – in which students will develop their skills in research, data analysis, project development and management, IT and communication. The languages used will then convey transdisciplinary meaning beyond linguistic study alone.
Concretely, this will be carried out through group work sessions, in class and through virtual and physical exchanges organised in each of the partner schools.
Visits in each partner city will follow a common scheme, i.e. a practical thematic discovery of the city through its culture, heritage, geography, economic activity and sustainable development strategies. This implies visits to local institutions, museums, companies and research & development hubs. These will contribute to the students’ common production of multimedia support material, addressing issues of cultural identity from a regional, national and European perspective. The visiting students will then report to their own school, thus progressively building skills and material toward the final common eponymous exhibition in May 2020 at the Maison de l’International (International House), in Grenoble.
As European citizens, future students, entrepreneurs, executives and decision makers, it is fundamental for our young people to initiate and further their acquaintance with our neighbour countries through multiple international experience. It is equally enriching for our teaching practices to meet and feed one another by developing stable and regular partnerships with other European schools. Finally, this project will facilitate each partner school’s active part in its local, regional and national network.
