Project Summary

The project rises from a needs analysis in the partner countries, which highlighted common needs and issues: youth unemployment; few working opportunities in the small rural centres especially for young people, with a consequent depopulation; degradation of natural and cultural heritage, with a lack of environmental preservation culture and low participation in responsible citizenship; insufficient investments for the development and promotion of cultural objectives; mass tourism encouraged; limited accessibility of some tourist sites; lack of tourist information; lack of public-private partnerships for ecotourism; low involvement of local population for a sustainable tourism promotion.
Addressing these needs, the project’ aims to foster exchange and dialogue between young people and youth workers from 7 different EU countries (Italy, Spain, Romania, Greece, Lithuania, Croatia and Portugal) on the issues of safeguarding and promoting natural and cultural heritage and social inclusion, developing entrepreneurial competence in the field of ecological and sustainable tourism and transversal competences for personal and professional development and active participation in society.
The project specific objectives are:
-To raise awareness of the importance of Europe’s cultural heritage through informal and non formal education activities, as a tool for social inclusion, youth participation and social entrepreneurship
-To promote the young people environmental education, especially ecotourism education for an active citizenship
-To strengthen the sense of belonging and participation, promoting activities that protect and enhance the common heritage, involving young people and local stakeholders, thus promoting social cohesion
-To improve key competences of youth workers to enhance the quality of their activity
-To foster the inclusion and employability of young people with fewer opportunities (including NEETs) through quality youth work and transnational learning activities
-To ease transition of young people from youth to adulthood, supporting the integration into the labour market developing key competences and promoting creative learning, entrepreneurship, and social entrepreneurship
-To create a European space of reflection for ecological and sustainable tourism as an educational learning experience, fostering personal and professional growth for youngsters
The main project activities will be:
– 3 Transnational project meetings.
– Creation of the Project multilingual website, integrated with a specific e-learning area with online modules for young people and youth workers in the fields of ecological and sustainable tourism and social entrepreneurship.
– 2 Short-term joint staff training event in Greece and Spain, to develop competences in youth workers, observing and using non-formal education methods and tools to increase youth participation and involvement, related also to sustainable tourism as an educational tool and as an entrepreneurial drive for local development and youth involvement.
– 2 Blended mobilities of young people in Lithuania and Italy, to develop key competences of young people. They will discover sustainable tourism activities, examples of sustainable mobility and share good practices for the environment protection. The participants will create tools for the promotion of cultural heritage, ecological and sustainable tourism, entrepreneurship and social entrepreneurship development.
– Local activities: Diagnosis and analysis of situation, identification and collection of good practices in the field of ecological and sustainable tourism and social entrepreneurship; creation of a Booklet for collecting all material created and shared; creation of online contents for young people and youth workers in the fields of ecological and sustainable tourism and social entrepreneurship; collection of products developed during the blended mobilities for young people, organisation of visibility events in each partner country.
The project activities will led to the achievement of the following results:
OUTPUTS
-Project multilingual website, integrated with a specific e-learning area for young people and youth workers in the fields of ecological and sustainable tourism and social entrepreneurship;
-Booklet with diagnosis and analysis of situation, identification and collection of good practices in the field of ecological and sustainable tourism and social entrepreneurship, uploaded in the project website;
-Collection of tools for ecotourism and social entrepreneurship development, developed during the blended mobilities for young people.
OUTCOMES
-New competences developed in young people and youth workers;
-Knowledge and experiences connected with project topics shared;
-More awareness about the educational value of European cultural heritage, on the importance of environmental protection and on the concept of ecotourism;
-Creation of a network of 7 European countries for exchanging good practices.
