Project Summary
Cinderella then and now – A book of values is a two-year project in the framework of ERASMUS+ Programme, Key Action 229: Cooperation for Innovation and the Exchange of Good Practices. Cinderella has been inspired by three previous eTwinning projects which all inspired values.
The Project brings together six primary schools from six European countries. Stories are a fantastic way to inspire children and initiate social discussions so that they can gain an understanding of shared values. Our project takes this story as a starting point: we will explore its values/morals through the storyline & quotes e.g. antibullying, kindness, fairness, courage, self-belief, hard work hard, perseverance. We will look at Cinderella then and now, how we would welcome ‘Cinderella’ to our schools, make her feel included and welcome, enable her to be safe and happy! The main goal is to improve school inclusion by providing all children including the young immigrants & refugees with the opportunity to find a place in their schools and communities through active participation in their school, so that they feel included, welcome, safe and happy. The project actively involves management teams and the majority of teachers in each partner school. The project was inspired by the following areas: Immigration and inclusion; British values; Keeping Safe and Feeling Happy; eSafety; Antibullying; Climate change and Sustainable Goals 2030.
The main objectives of the project are:
To promote shared values, equality and inclusion though collaborative activities
To equip & educate pupils and teachers on strategies regarding safety and well-being
To develop collaborative partnership between schools and the wider community and to implement the European dimension amongst all participants.
To familiarise schools with Climate Change
Some of the activities include: Digital tools: collective answers e.g. answergarden, interactive mind maps e.g. GoConqr, search engines to research information, digital presentations, Google questionnaires (e.g. on e-Safety), collaborative padlets, twinspace features; Displays and murals; Children’s interviews and articles in school magazine / newsletter; Posters and school leaflets; Live conferences; Audio or videos; Logo – Art; Charity involving local community; Visits from the local community; Reports of transnational meetings; Election of pupil representatives; Letters to the Head teacher and to the local MP to raise awareness, including suggestions on how to improve the environment in our community; Friends of the Environment Decalogue; Eco-activities in schools; Schools portfolio of evidence / blog; Collaborative ebooks and magazines, virtual exchanges.
Pupils will be able to enhance their cultural awareness and knowledge by collaborating with pupils from partner schools and through cross-curricular activities and innovative approaches. The project will enable the pupils to use new technologies, to learn about the culture of the partner schools (tangible and intangible) and experience through their communication how English is not only a school subject but an indispensable means of communication. Pupils will learn about shared values, the Sustainable Goals and other important areas such as esafety, Climate change and SDGs, they will be equipped with safety and well being strategies, and all these throughout various collaborative activities and virtual exchanges.
Our project links with many objectives of the UK National Curriculum, mainly with our PSHE & Computing objectives of the . Activities will help schools to fulfil their statutory responsibility to support their cultural development and prepare them for the opportunities, responsibilities and experiences of life. Pupils will be taught to select, use and combine a variety of software (including internet services) on a range of digital devices to design content that will accomplish given goals, including collecting, analysing, evaluating and presenting data and information.
Teachers will be empowered as they will have the opportunity to observe lessons and deliver activities in partner schools, plan and team work with European colleagues, share ideas and learn from each other, attend various educational workshops and meetings and therefore improve their pedagogical skills, implement new strategies and approaches in their own schools, enhance their teaching practises and skills. As a result, we can create more inclusive schools. We also aim that Sustainable Goals, charity and eco activities and shared values will be incorporated in the lessons, classrooms, assemblies and school curriculums.
