Project Summary
Human activities are threatening the health of the world’s oceans. More than 80 percent of marine pollution comes from land-based activities. From coral bleaching to sea level rise, entire marine ecosystems are rapidly changing, glaciers disappearing, microplastic all around the water of the planet and the whole climate suffering from tremendous changes. To survive and prosper we need healthy oceans
Starting from these permits, our project, with the thematic of WATER, emerges as an absolutely essential asset that needs to be protected with strong policies and with responsible citizens in its use and protection. Water is essential to life on earth. However, water is a scarce commodity. It is absolutely necessary and indispensable to increase the number of people with safe access to water. It is well known that WATER is essential to life on Earth. Without WATER no plant or animal species, including humans, could survive. About 70% of our food and our own body is made up of WATER.
New generations want to get involved in the protection of water . The example of the sweedish teenager, Gretan Thunberg, isnpired young people all over the world, striking for the protection fo the planet against climate change. We intend to equip our students with even more knowledge about this subject, working on the theme in concert with other European countries.
All countries in the partnership share the existence of seas, rivers, lakes, etc., and we are committed to developing a strong policy of protectionism and information in our educational and regional to communities.
To achieve these goals, we will engage students using game techniques (gamification) to make them conscious of the importance of water, their threats, the solutions, the policies that need to be taken.
Teachers, on the other hand, will use CLIL to study the topic of water from different areas and get a general and global view.
The education systems need to change their priorities so that all European citizens can acquire the knowledge, skills and competences they need to meet the requirements of the labor market and face the challenges of modern life and be more active in their citizenship. So, the profile student who will participate is an activist who cares and wants to fight to change the current situation.
Through international cooperation of the pupils and teachers we are aiming to incorporate European dimension into the educational process and depict the ideal class of the 21st century where the relationship between pupils and teachers are based on communication, mutual respect, cooperation, tolerance and respect.
We live in Europe and we are Europe. However, Europe is being threatened by different aspects and this kind of projects help to recover Europe’s value: human dignity, freedom, democracy, equality, respect for human rights, rights of persons belonging to minorities. With this project we intend to stimulate the taste for European culture based on these principles.
Six students and three teachers will participate in each mobility. Students will be hosted in host families in the countries to visit, thus promoting respect and knowledge for the various European cultures.
The outputs of these experiences (reports, articles on the blog, videos) will be collected and shared during the meeting projects and disseminated out (through the use of new i-tools, e-books, online newspapers, digital open educational resources).
We aim to treat foreign languages and the use of IT skills not as the main purpose of the project but as a tool to achieve other goals.
