Project Summary

“Sustainable spaces, interconnected schools” emerges from the union of three schools which, after evaluating their needs, set three courses of action: building environmental awareness, encouraging multilingualism and strengthening the Europeanization of the schools. The UN´s objectives for 2030 take into account biodiversity and the use of water. Our pupils will research on these topics in the three countries implied in the project, getting to know not only the reality of their country, but also that of the rest of the countries. This international research contributes to creating European awareness of the change, in order to set up responsible environmental behaviour.
After the new events taking place from COVID-19 we decided to include in this project the use of ICT tools and the rehabilitation after conflicts and disasters. In this way, we can tend to the reduction of the digital divide and emotional education. This project has a 24-month length and it includes a combined action protocol when facing exceptional situations, ensuring the participants´ safety.
The objectives of this project are:
a)Promoting the appearance and awareness of a European learning area, which is permanently designed to support updating of the educational and training systems
b) Improving the teaching and learning of languages and promoting the broad linguistic variety in the EU
c)Encouraging the development of social, civic and intercultural competence.
d)Supporting and evaluating new approaches meant to reduce inequality regarding the access and participation in the ICT tools
e)Encouraging the dialogue between families-school-local organizations.
f)Promoting a European learning area
g)Increasing environmental awareness in our background
h)Promoting the creation of habits that make us a sustainable school
i)Including emotional education in our school educational project
This project is aimed at pupils between 12 and 16 years old who, together with teachers, will be chosen according to selection criteria included in it. There will be 3 mobilities in which 96 pupils and 12 teachers will take part in total. There will also be teachers and pupils who will not take part in the mobilities but will be implied in the project, as well as families who will host students and take part in the training.
The pupils´ working methodology will be based on 2 main lines: research work, which will have as a result small training sessions that we have called “learning pills” and awareness-raising campaigns inside and outside the school. In order to develop this work, pupils need to be in contact with different organizations linked to the environment (Ecoembes, LPO, Legambiente) as well as the media (newspapers such as La Verdad or Le Bulletin d´Espalion…) Working with other organizations different from the teaching environment encourages the building of new learning areas which help to boost pupils´s motivation.
The activities to be carried out are:
– Creation of new virtual learning areas
– Celebration of several international days through different awareness campaigns
– Learning pills will be uploaded on Youtube and will be linked to school websites, networking sites…
– Family school about emotional and environmental education
– Creation of virtual and formal debate forums with local organizations and families, in which agreements to reduce the digital divide are reached.
The results that are expected to be achieved are:
a. Increasing environmental awareness
b. Including emotional education in the educational projects of the schools taking part in order to offer resources and overcome crisis situations as the one we are living at the moment
c. Protocol for the reduction of the digital divide: detection of pupils who do not have access to the internet or have difficulties using ICT tools and keys to sort out these problems. This protocol will take place with the help of local police, social services, etc
d. Making the family school official with the help of schools parents´ organizations
e. Larger digitalization of the school with a double objective: environmentally-friendly because of the reduction of paper it implies and educational through ICT tools training.
Our pupils´ participation will produce greater self-confidence, open minds, stronger interpersonal links, social commitment… Schools will benefit from the cultural and teaching experience exchanges, the European School Project will strengthen and we will move forward a school which adapts to educational and social circumstances in the world at present.
The project includes a sustainability plan that aims at achieving schools which are open, inclusive, innovative and in solidarity with the environment . “The best antivirus is to have a healthy ecosystem and a tolerant, sympathetic population”
