Project Summary
The European Union is aware that many higher education institutions and some universities have not been recycled to adapt to the learning needs of their students and to the social and work reality of today’s world.
The technology and information society have made that thanks to neural plasticity (the ability of the brain to adapt to new environments) brains obey other stimuli than those characteristic of classical teaching.
It is no longer enough just to verbalize and speak from a pulpit. The image and interaction have gained such a great value that teachers have to lead by example, behavior, nonverbal communication, gestures … And learn to implement these educational techniques that have a high power over the unconscious of the brain. Our inner world comes out through gestures. It is about getting to know us better as teachers, getting to know our students better, and together being better at the teaching level to be a more powerful European Union.
The objective of our project is to train higher education lecturers in an innovative didactic method, based on Neuroscience, through an online platform in which a community of higher education teachers is created to facilitate the development of transversal competencies in the area of communication.
Specific objectives:
Specific objective 1: conduct studies in all participating countries on neuroscience applied to higher education and assemble them into a comprehensive study to identify training needs and directions for subsequent action.
Specific Objective 2: exchange best practices in order to prepare itineraries with adequate training skills development required by higher education teachers in their teaching function.
Specific Objective 3: develop an innovative training methodology, in order to train the target group of the project to increase the necessary didactic skills by Neuroscience.
Specific Objective 4: Organize a pilot training course where participants will learn to adapt and acquire teaching skills according to the neuroscientific method. The profile of the participants should be adequate, as the intention is to directly involve their organisations in the training pilot session for 24 higher education teachers involved in the teaching of higher education students.
Specific Objective 5: Create an online platform that will host the course “Didactic method based on Neuroscience” and a community of higher education teachers.
Target group: The higher education lecturers who develop their work in institutions of higher education. The deep changes, for the quality, of the public service and of the internationalization, that higher education institution is living provokes alterations in the functions, roles, and tasks assigned to the professor, requiring the development of new competencies to the teaching and investigator staff.
This fact has generated new formative needs, provoking the development of specific formative plans for this group.
The project will generate the following intellectual outputs:
– Studies on neuroscience applied to higher education and study to identify training needs.
– Innovative training methodology and good practice guide based on neuroscience.
– Online platform with the course “Didactic method based on Neuroscience” and Community of higher education lecturers.
Working methods to be used in the activities are participatory, promoting diversity of ideas and concepts and the organizations involved have relevant experience in the field of higher education so that intellectual products of the project will bring an approach innovation in the field of Educational Neuroscience.
The objective of the method is to provide the teachers with neuroscientific knowledge adapted to their reality so that they are capable of transmitting knowledge as required by the brains of the 21st century.
This project will help the higher education centers to be adapted to the new demands of the students, who represent the future of our European society.
Higher education in Europe must have leadership not only in the field of research but also in new teaching methods that the partners of this project will transmit to their teachers.
