Project Summary
Radicalization amongst youth has become a pressing issue in the last years, both in Eastern and Western Europe and also Latin American countries. Situation and Trend Report of 2019 (Europol) referred to unprecedented numbers of young people in danger of being radicalized (religiously, ideologically). Antiradicalization Creative Thinking (ACT) aims to provide specialised training for youth workers in order to tackle the issue of radicalization within their communities, while involving youth into creative and media related activities aimed to enhance their critical thinking and the intercultural dialogue.Main objectives:-To raise awareness on youth radicalization and the importance on working on prevention programmes and methodologies-To equip the youth workers with the ability to identify those most at risk and with tools to respond to different levels of extremism and radicalization-The development of a training toolkit for youth workers on new strategies and pedagogic approaches towards anti-radicalization of youth-To identify and understand the causes of extremism and radicalization-To fight against the radicalization message in the media and the portrait of negative stereotypes-To foster research and knowledge about different contexts and situations triggering radicalization-To provide youth with skills in media literacy and audio-visual creation-To promote critical and analytical thinking amongst youthA first stage where training, awareness and research activities will be carried out in order to prepare youth workers participating in the project (A2, A4). A second stage where the youth will create their own productions based on their own research and reflections aiming to spread positive messages (A3, A5). During the whole project local based work will be carried out by the youth workers in the basis of their training in order to do field research and implement a series of resources that would be included in the final toolkit. An evaluation meeting (A6) will be conducted to draw main conclusions. The participants in the project can be divided in young people and youth workers. According to this division we have foreseen mobility for youth workers (2 training courses) and young people (2 youth exchanges). Although our main target is youth workers, the final target is youth themselves. Therefor local activities involving youth will be held, besides the 2 youth exchanges. The activities planned are diverse and different methodology will be used. According to this, we will have seminars, workshops, awareness campaigns, dissemination activities, online participative work, promotion activities and direct-action activities. As tangible deliverables we will produce a website which will be the container of the whole process and ideas developed during the project, e-learning materials (OER), an anti-radicalization toolkit, short films, videos, photos, brochures.
