Project Summary

The “INSIDE” is an innovative project which focuses on social inclusion of Special Education Needs(SEN) students, strengthening the profile of the teaching profession and innovative practices for the target group of SEN teachers, parents and students in a digital era. The project is coordinated by Antalya Provincial Directory of National Education(AMONE) within the partnership of Akdeniz University(AU), The University of Exeter(UNEXE), The University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU), The University College Dublin and AIJU Research Institute.

Our main objectives are;
*to strengthen the strategic and structured cooperation between higher education institutions,
*to enable SEN teachers to embrace an innovative Digi-holistic teaching Module in classes,
*to develop high-quality early childhood education systems (in line with the ECEC Council Recommendation) with regards to teaching-learning materials,
*to enable SEN students with Mild Intellectual Disabilities(MID) to acquire ‘Social adaptation skills’ through innovative digital content,
*to create free digital-educational resources with a creative commons license,
*to adapt to digital changes in education at the organizational level,
*to increase SEN teachers’ and SEN parents’ pro-European minded digital literacy skills and increase awareness for digital inclusion of the disabled in the society,
*to support the development of recommendation policy on digital inclusion in SEN

TARGET GROUP:
The project targets the involvement of more than 100 SEN teachers, 500 SEN students and parents in innovative activities promoting the use of digital resources for increasing students’ social adaptation skills. In the long term, we target all SEN teachers, parents, SEN students with MID as well as SEN departments, researchers and policymakers and all related stakeholders.

ACTIVITIES:
There’ll be four Transnational Project Meetings(TPMs), the Kick-off meeting, two interim meetings for evaluation and corrections, and the final meeting for preparing the report, finalizing the outputs, dissemination and sustainability of the project. Two people from each partner institution will participate in each TPMs.

The project “INSIDE” involves six short term joint staff training events(LTT) with different objectives. The first mobility will be the Design of Digi-holistic teaching/learning module organized by Akdeniz University(AU). The event will take place for 5 days in July 2021 within the involvement of 28 participants. The event will cover training and activities about Integration and Effective Use of Digital Technologies in SEN Education for preparing a Digi-holistic teaching/learning module. The second LTT will be held in September 2021 in Spain by AIJU for 5 days within the participation of 12 ICT teachers, who are responsible for creating the digital contents. The participants will have a training on “Articulate Storyline 3”. The other four LTTs will be arranged for testing the implementation of the project’s intellectual outputs in partner countries and to carry out the necessary studies for the comparison and development of the Digi-holistic teaching/learning module. One participant from AIJU, three participants from the coordinator institution and two participants from other partner institutions will involve in these LTT events. These LTT events will be held for 5 days in September, October, November and December 2022 in each partner country.

OUTPUTS:
The project “INSIDE” aims to create four intellectual outputs which lead us to achieve project goals. A Digi-holistic teaching/learning module, digital contents supporting the module, an e-learning platform where all the contents of the outputs are accessible by the users and the reports kit including all the data, reports and other tangible materials.

It has been planned to reach 160 people from educational environments with two multiplier events one of which will be held at an international level in the UK.

IMPACT:
The expected impact of the project is to develop digital social inclusion of SEN students with MID through improving SEN teachers’ technology literacy skills, creating a ready-to-use Digi-holistic teaching-learning module for social adaptation course, an e-learning platform accessible from anywhere and anytime, involving the parents into their SEN students’ education depending on a regular format. In the long term we expect more academicians, researchers, curricula developers and policymakers will be interested in the digital social inclusion of SEN students and contribute to their adaptation to society in such a digital era.

By the end of the project, 121 participants will have been involved in LTT events, 160 participants in multiplier events. More than 100 SEN teachers and 500 SEN students with MID will have got the benefit of the project activities and events. At the end of the project, we expect to reach about 5000 beneficiaries from stakeholders in partner countries through dissemination activities.
