Project Summary

More than 75 years ago humanity was involved in the greatest warlike conflict of its history, however in 1950 a process of political, economic and social integration was launched based on peace and solidarity among the peoples of Europe, which is still today, the strategy and fundamental pillar of European politics.

Despite the difficult crisis situation in which we find ourselves derived from Covid-19, currently young people can enjoy different opportunities to train, travel, know and develop themselves in a European area of knowledge, development and exchange with young people and professionals from other countries.

As the end of the Erasmus+ Programme 2014-2020 approaches, organizations from five European countries with whom we have previously collaborated in the development of projects within the framework of this Programme, we consider essential to evaluate and measure the impact that Erasmus+ had at local, regional and international level in young people and professionals in the field of youth who have participated in different actions of the Programme and the great change that it brought in their lives both personally and professionally. At the same time, we consider that is is necessary to know and exchange our tools and good practices, and to present some proposals for improvements derived from the results.

This project, “Beyond Erasmus +”, is a 12-month strategic partnerships for the exchange of good practices in the field of youth that, starting on April 1, 2021 and ending on March 31, 2022, is coordinated by the Iniciativa Internacional Joven (Spain), with partners from Poland, Italy, Lithuania and Ireland.

The main objectives of the project are:
-To develop key competences of participants, youth workers and other professionals in the field of youth in order to develop higher quality projects within the framework of European mobility programmes for education;
-To improve the efficiency and quality of the Erasmus+ Programme through the exchange of evaluation and impact measurement tools between different institutions, organizations and professionals in the field of youth work;
-To exchange experiences, good practices and methodologies on evaluation and impact measurement in projects carried out within the framework of the Erasmus+ Programme: Youth by institutions, organizations and professionals from five countries;
-To create an international network of organizations that apply for and develop high quality projects in the framework of European mobility programmes for education, in order to promote the cooperation and exchange of good practices between Programme Countries.

The main activities of the project are:
-Transnational coordination meeting in Dublin (Ireland) to specify strategies, working methodologies and details of future activities;
-Local activities I: diagnosis and analysis of the situation, working meetings, identification of good practices and tools for tools for evaluating and measuring impact;
-International training in Malaga (Spain) of six days for three youth workers per organization on evaluation, impact measurement and recognition of key competences;
-Local activities II: training workshops at local level, interviews with participants of Erasmus+ Programme;
-Activities of presentation and dissemination of products and results: eBook and videos;
-Final event in Kaunas (Lithuania) for the presentation of the project products and a final evaluation among partner organizations.

The general methodology is based on the pedagogical principles of non-formal education, liberating pedagogy and emotional intelligence.

During the project, youth workers will be provided with new tools for evaluating and measuring the impact of European mobility projects. Doing so, the quality and recognition of youth work will be promoted with the intention of taking advantage of the potential of each entity, maximizing synergies and promoting cooperation and innovation.

The project will have an impact in participants (new acquired and/or improved competences, personal and professional development, etc.), in the organizations (use of new skills and tools, exchange of good practices, better quality of the work, etc.), and also in the society in general (greater knowledge about European programmes, greater consideration of the work and resources used by European Union for youth work, outreach and participation of young people at risk of exclusion in activities financed by public institutions that allow them to develop their competences and change their lives, new tools and resources to face the challenges of today’s society, etc.).
