Project Summary
Our project corresponds to two-fold need:
1. increasing low level of creativity, fields of creativity and culture being neglected;
2. lack of activities facilitating skills development through creative expression of filmmaking, low level of competences related to filmmaking.
Our project answers to need of neglected cultural and creativity fields, low level of creativity among youth, their desire to acquire new skills in non-formal creative ways as well as equipping youth workers with competences to make it all possible. It is not only that we will contribute to recovery of creativity and culture fields in communities by organizing film festivals and other activities related to filmmaking but also to reviving youth work – making it more visible, up-to-date, interesting and attractive for young people.
Goal:
To increase capacity of youth workers from 5 countries to create and facilitate contexts where young people could develop various skills through creative expression of filmmaking.
Objectives:
O1. To familiarize youth workers from 5 countries with technical aspects of filmmaking (equipment and 3 stages of filmmaking – planning, filming and editing) and exchange methods used to foster creativity in filmmaking for young people.
O2. To engage and empower young people in 5 communities to develop hard (e.g. handling equipment and filming, editing) and soft skills (e.g. creativity, communication, working in teams) through filmmaking.
O3. Identify how filmmaking can be used to promote and add value to existing youth work and addressing needs of young people.
We have idealized this project activities to achieve project objectives and answer to the needs mentioned above in a gradual progressing manner in a dynamic of input followed by testing/application of competences in practice during learning activities and their follow-ups in local communities. Therefore, each training tackles a specific need, but one doesn’t work without the other.
During C1 youth workers will get more acquainted with filming equipment and technical aspects, learning how to produce their own films.
C2 will focus on getting youth workers familiar with non-formal methods to foster creativity and skills development in filmmaking, they will be able to develop activity plans using a variety of non-formal methods.
C3 will enable young people to share their experiences in film making in the months prior to the activity and continue exploring film making now in an intercultural context, expressing their creativity and addressing needs/interests relevant for young people across Europe.
Tangible results:
-5 films promoting each partner organization
-3 short films/promotional videos about each learning activity
-20 films (4/country) created by young people in local communities
-7 films created during blended mobility of young people by participants
-16 film festivals organized (1 common during blended mobility, 1 per partner in local communities during dissemination process and 2 per partner after the project is closed as a mean to ensure sustainability).
-Video testimonials, personal documentaries of young people taking part in this project.
Intangible results:
-70 youth workers (20 during short-term joint staff training events and 50 during follow-up activities) will learn how to use audiovisual equipment, principles of filmmaking and how to facilitate workshops to foster creativity in filmmaking for young people as well as how to use filmmaking to promote and add value to existing youth work. Youth workers will be able to reach and engage more young people through attractive video content and providing opportunities for youth to learn it.
-35 young people from 5 countries (participants of part of local activities and blended mobility of young people) will familiarize with newest audiovisual equipment and learn how to use it, discover 3 stages of filmmaking (planning, filming, editing) and try them in practice by making their own films. They will develop various hard and soft skills through filmmaking which are needed for creative filmmaking expression but as well are highly relevant for current labour market. This will contribute to their employability and adaptability to labour market demand.
-Contribution to recovery of the cultural and creative sectors in local communities by facilitating workshops about audiovisual equipment and filmmaking, organizing filmmaking sessions and film festivals where films created in the community will be presented.
-Increased social inclusion as we will provide equal opportunities for everyone to participate in the activities, develop reinforced mentorship plan for youth facing fewer opportunities and encourage social inclusion/exclusion topic for film creating to reflect on community needs and foster sense of belonging by showing that many people face the same problem and it can be addressed together.
