Project Summary
The history of formal education as we use it today goes back to ancient times. Education, which has a history of thousands of years, has reached to present in similar ways and it has been necessary for the teacher and the student to be in the same place and time. However, with the rapid advancement of ICT in our age, students and teachers have succeeded in performing educational activities in an interactive way even if they are in different places.
Students and teachers could not come together in the same place due to the CORONAVIRUS epidemic that occurred in 2019. To continue education, online distance education started urgently. The adaptation process to education, which is new for many countries and is urgently introduced into our lives, has been quite difficult for both teachers and students. Teachers mostly tried to use methods and techniques used in face-to-face education on this platform. However, it is clear using the methods and techniques of traditional education system in a new education style in a new age won’t be effective enough. So implementation of applications suitable for the digital age in distance education will be our first priority in this project and in our understanding of education.
The primary target group of our project CT<4DE is teachers. The role of teacher in distance education is not only to be an information provider, but also to be a resource provider, learning manager, instructional designer, evaluation and evaluation specialist, communication specialist, technologist, consultant and guide. In this context, the most important role in realizing an effective distance education process falls to teacher. Another target group is students who are the most important stakeholders of education and training process. For an effective distance education activity, students also need to have knowledge and skills about distance education processes.
The goals of our project are to;
-improve the professional profiles of educators by making teachers competent in distance education
-make Online Distance Education(ODE) more effective and efficient with contemporary teaching methods and techniques
-ensure that students make the most of educational opportunities with ODE
-increase the quality of ODE activities of joint institutions and stakeholders.
The project partners are from Turkey, Poland, Portugal and Romania consisting of seven participating organizations. Our project covering 2 years will include 4 TPM and 1 LTT activities. Each TPM activity will take 2 days, LTT activity will take 5 days. Three participants from each institution will attend the first TPM and two participants from each for other TPMs. 4 participants from each institution will take part in LTT activity. Only Fikri tesisat will attend by 3 participants considering their institutional capacity. Participants will be educators working within the institutions.
1st TPM meeting will be held in Turkey aiming to get the partners to know each other. All details regarding management, budget, concrete outputs, activities, calendar and Quality Assurance will be presented and discussed in order to realize a good project.
2nd TPM meeting where issues such as the content, design and interface of the Project Website with Online Module will be determined and studies will be done will be held in Poland.
3rd TPM meeting whre the steps to be taken for the scales to be developed in order to determine the readiness of educators and students for online distance education will be determined will be held in Portugal.
4th TPM meeting where the team will come together for the preparation of the CT<4DE Trainers’ training module and CT<4DE Student education module. The modules’ design, content, gains, and determination of the methods and techniques to be included in the modules will be determined. It will be held in Romania
LTT meeting will be held in Turkey. This activity is the meeting where the 5 concrete outputs created in cooperation with the partners during the project are transferred to the educators of the partner institutions in the most effective and efficient way.
As a result of our project, teachers will have an efficient course management by knowing contemporary teaching methods and techniques, problems and solutions to be used in ODE. Students will achieve success with quality online distance education, while institutions will be able to provide the necessary education and training support during extraordinary periods such as pandemics.
The project will be disseminated through the project website, the website of our institutions, sharing on social media, information meetings appropriate to the specified target group, local press news, project boards, short films, etc.
