Project Summary
Living in harmony with mother earth is the subject of our Project and the same time an assignment for us to realize it. It is the task of our time to teach our children to live ecologically, respectfully and sustainably.This also includes broadening their horizons, travelling to a foreign Country and communicating in a foreign language. We can only cope with the climate crisis together. We have to practice walking towards each other, listening to each other and learning from each other.
These are the goals of the project: Learning to live sustainably; Promote health literacy; conscious consumer behavior; act environmentally conscious; Ecological Footprint; understand individual social responsibility; Ideas from “Laudato si” – the encyclical of Pope Francis transfer into our everyday life;
40 teachers from both schools are involved in this project work. 6 teachers will do job shadowing. 40 students between the ages of 12 and 14 will take part in the student exchange. Those students were selected, who are interested in the class and have a high motivation to learn. Pupils from families who cannot travel for financial reasons will also take part in the exchange.
Description of the activities: Theming of the project in the teacher conferences and staff Meetings of both schools.Presentation of the project on parents-teacher conferences of the participating classes of both Schools. Record videos in which the participating students introduce themselves. The videos created by both schools will be published on eTwinning. Joint creation of a project logo (symbol). Project weeks in both schools: the timetable is broken up in all classes. There will be in-depth teaching across subjects on the topic: Living in harmony with mother earth.The students of both schools create an information folder about their exchange project with the jointly designed logo, the EU logo and statements about the project week.The exchange students present their project on the open day of their school and distribute the folders, explain posters that were designed during the project week, give explanations of what they have worked on so far.The students design, edit and maintain a school garden.The work steps are logged and shared with the Spanish schoolchildren on eTwinning. The students prepare short presentations on their favorite topics as part of the big topic: Living in harmony with mother earth. They will present them in in the partner School. The Knowledge aquired is shown in Video presentations, photos, brief statements at the school graduation parties of both Schools. The posters, logos and folders created are displayed in the schoolbuilding so that they are clearly visible to everyone. Reports with the logos about the project are continously published on the homepages of the schools, on Facebook or Instagram, in the city magazines and in the local daily or weekly newspapers.
Communication, giving lectures, working on topics in a foreign language – in our case English is an important task for the future viability of our students. How we learn a sustainable lifestyle includes the diverse occupation with our project topic: Living in harmony with mother earth. That is the order of the day. Practicing it across borders and sharing ideas involves saving our earth a little. The exchange students at NMS Rosegger will leave graduate the school after the project ends. We will encourage them to keep in touch with their Spanish schoolmates. The team of teachers at both schools agreed to report to each other on climate protection activities organized at the schools after the end of the project and to keep in touch. Maybe an Erasmus+ partnership with another topic will take place in the future.
The Topic of our project and the young people active in it will stimulate many people in our regions to live in a climate friendly way, to look beyond the borders of the plate and to network across national borders and to become active together for a healthy world and a felicitous, peaceful life.
