Project Summary

Context:
DI.S.T.AN.C.E: A Digital Tool for Teaching Science and Coding in Distance Education project has been written after six institutions met from Spain, Estonia, Italy, Turkey and Greece.Our project duration is 24 months. Spain is the coordinator of the project. Our main goal in this project is to increase the quality and efficiency of online education and to produce innovative digital content for online science education.
Goals:
1-Developing reliable, observable and open to feedback digital measurement tools in online science lessons
2-Developing a virtual science and robotic coding laboratory that can be used in computer environment in order to be able to teach Applied Science courses and to develop projects for this.
3-To establish access to online education centers for students who cannot access internet and technological devices in order to ensure equal opportunity in education.
4-To increase the technology literacy level of teachers, students and parents
5-Developing robotics and coding skills in teachers and students and making them usable in science lessons

Number and profile of participants:
Participants in the project were chosen from among science education teachers. 3 teachers from each institution will attend per LTT. There are 18 participants in total.
We will carry out LTT activities with volunteer teachers.Plus the teachers who are;
* Experienced in robotic coding and open to development,
* Actively taking part in laboratory lessons
* Good command of the science teaching program
* Able to use technology
* Open to innovations will b taken apart as participants.

Students will not participate in learning and teaching activities. There will be student participation in our local and virtual activities. 30% of the participant student quota is reserved for disadvantaged students. Participants will also be selected among students who cannot access online education tools during the online education process and students who have to receive home education due to health problems. 50 participant students will be selected from each institution.
Activities:
Activities include 4 LTTs, 3 transnational meetings and dissemination activities to be carried out locally. As a result of the activities to be carried out, it is planned to produce two intellectual outputs. One of our intellectual outputs is a virtual science and robotic coding laboratory and the other is an educational game for measurement purposes to be used in science lessons.
Learning Teaching Activities
* Robotics and Coding: This activity, which will be held in Italy, is aimed at improving the robotics and coding skills of teachers. The skills obtained here will be used in the preparation of projects by combining science activities with robotic coding.
* Analysis of science teaching programs: In this activity to be held in Greece, we will analyze our science teaching programs and prepare common question contents. These questions will be used in the output of the idea that we will produce as an educational computer game.
* Science laboratory applications: In this activity to be carried out in Spain, we will prepare new activities by comparing the laboratory practices we do in our science teaching programs. Robotic coding will be integrated into the prepared activities and sample projects will be developed. With this activity, we will prepare the ground for a virtual science and robotic coding lab.
* Protiger Program: In this activity to be carried out in Estonia, we will analyze the protiger program applied in this country. This application will contribute to the development of digital competencies and increase the level of technology literacy.

Methodology:
The methodologies we will apply throughout the project are:
*Collaborative work
* Experiment-Observation
* Coding
*Research and development
*Presentation
*Analysis
*induction-deduction

Results:
* Strengthening professional profiles by analyzing different education systems
* Creating virtual science and robotic coding lab and developing projects
* Developing an educational computer game to be used in science lessons
* Development of digital measurement and evaluation tools that can be used in science and technology lessons
* Increase in technology literacy level
* Ensuring equal opportunity in online education
* Adopting a student-centered approach in online education and encouraging students to learn by doing and experiencing
* Using technology at a high level
* For parents to manage the online education process properly
* The use of robotics and coding for problem solving in science lessons and the transfer of gains to daily life.
* Increasing awareness for the green movement
Our long term goals:
* Our international cooperation capacity will increase
* It will be an example to produce similar intellectual outputs in other fields.
* Will contribute to the development of education policies
* Will ensure a positive school climate
* Strengthen school culture and communication.
