Project Summary
One of the twelve pan-European walking routes is E3. Labeled E1 to E12, they cross far and wide across the old continent – a good way to get to know it. The idea for their creation came from the European Hiking Association (ERA), founded in Germany in 1969 and now numbering 61 members – tourism organizations from 34 European countries (including our BTS). Some of the most important conditions that the routes must meet are to cross the borders of at least three countries and be well marked according to the requirements of the association – the circle of EU yellow stars on a blue background, in the middle of which is placed a letter -digital designation of the route. As they pass along the already existing tourist trails, it is normal in the countries of Central and Western Europe to be better marked, but Southeast Europe compensates with the beauty of nature ERA awards certificates for the so-called. “Leading quality trails – The best of Europe” Three of the European “e’s” pass through Bulgaria, two of which end on our territory. About 2150 km are marked (the total length is different because there are branches and alternative paths). E3 is also called the “path of the Templars” because much of it coincides with the paths of the Crusaders. Its western branch starts from Santiago de Compostela, Spain – the end point of one of the great pilgrimage routes El Camino, and ends in Nessebar. Length – 6950 km.
The Bulgarian section of it, better known as Kom-Emine, was recently extended to Nessebar. It is also the best marked and the only continuous in our territory. Length – 700 km, approximately walking time along the route – 30 days. The record for its speed is Lyubomir Palakarchev, who in 1986 crossed it in 5 days and 14 hours, or Kiril Nikolov-Diesel, who tried to improve this record in August 2014, but without success.
E3 in Bulgaria is a challenge – to walk along the Balkan Mountains – the backbone of Bulgaria – from the westernmost to its easternmost part.
This time, as a Bulgarian part of El Camino, it deserves good marking, marking, modern technological solutions for tracking and advertising. At the same time, today’s society is becoming increasingly obese, reducing its physical activity and socially disintegrating. In the context of the global pandemic of COVID-19, it is becoming increasingly important to use forms of tourism that naturally lead to social distance and do not pose risks of spreading the disease. Within the project we will create a multifunctional multimedia software platform for innovative presentation of the tourist route of the Camino road, passing through the territory of the Bank Peninsula, including the cultural values traced along the way, realized in 3D and linear graphic environments. The platform will provide accessible and easy-to-use architecture of a visually animated map of the part of the Camino Road in Bulgaria and the regions of our partners from Serbia and Macedonia, and within the map there will be positioning of individual 3D objects of educational nature.
This platform will be a portal – a virtual space for educational and tourist purposes for people who are interested in the route, tourism, history, art and new technologies. An innovative product for the informal
education with a focus on raising awareness and knowledge of history, culture, cultural heritage and pan-European values and the development of digital competences. On the other hand, the portal will
to become a virtual tool, through which even epidemiological quarantine conditions, lovers – tourists to have the opportunity to go through the tourist route and enjoy the sights and places-sanctuaries, even from home.
At the second stage of the project a reconnaissance expedition will be planned, within which representatives with interest in the route will have the opportunity to visit the main places in Bulgaria included in the online platform, and their goal will be to improve the places by good marking, marking. , modern technological solutions for tracking and advertising. In the context of the global pandemic of COVID-19 and the post-war process after it, it is becoming increasingly important to use forms of tourism that naturally lead to social distance and do not create risks for the spread of the infection.
The objectives of the project are fully in line with the main and specific objectives of the project, as well as with the priorities of the Erasmus + program, namely to involve organizations in the field of formal, non-formal and informal education, together with organizations from the creative and cultural sectors, to promote awareness in Europe and enable people of today’s and future generations to be successful innovators at local level, regardless of their social and cultural background.
