Project Summary

Current situation with Covid-19 pandemic is changing the way of how everyone is living and doing their work. Artists are not immune to these new changes, and are highly affected due to the fact that most of the presentations of their work and interactions with audience are based on face-to-face encounters in forms of exhibitions, shows, plays, performances etc. As part of the internal survey partners have conducted, we had a chance to see what’s the current situation with artists, how they see the whole situation and which are the possible solutions to their problems which were caused by the current pandemic.
With this project proposals our consortium is trying to create tools that would be helpful for artists to combat the current situation, reach their target audience and provide an opportunity to present their work, make an income and overcome the whole current situation.

This project will respond to the needs of young dancers and performers in order to successfully continue their regular work by using digital tools and technologies and help them to stay in touch with their existing audience, but as well attract more people by using online platforms and social media. They will learn how to adapt their usual face-to-face activities to be developed and implemented online and discuss how they can use gained skills and competences to improve general quality of their work in the long-term period.

Covid-19 pandemic does not recognise geographical borders, but is present as a general challenge for all artists around the globe. The diversity of the countries involved bring special added value to the project, as our partners come from 5 different countries that are each on different level of digitalisation and using online tools and technologies, especially when it comes to the art and youth work sectors. Also, all these countries had pretty different measures introduced by their governments that enabled artists to adjust and explore reality of “new normal” differently. This present a unique opportunity for everyone involved to learn from each other, share their existing realities and examples of good practice.

General objectives of the project are:
– To connect the youth sector and the youth organisations with the cultural sector (in specific dancers and performers) and decision makers in order to start the dialogue between these three parties and to create new opportunities for artists and performers in the light of the current situation
– To increase competences of youth organisations for their work on empowering dancers and art performers in local communities for creating opportunities to engage with audience by developing online activities
– To develop a platform that contains a portfolio of all artists involved in the project as a place where they can meet each other, and promote their online and live activities
– To empower young artists in gaining new educational opportunities – in specific gaining skills and knowledge for adapting their activities to online surrounding and increasing visibility of their work
– To increase competences of dancers and performers in order to cope with Covid-19 pandemic reality in the sector and make them more resilient
– To increase competences of dancers and performers through developed online courses: video production, how to use social media and internet to reach the audience (especially youth) and engage them in the art; social media strategy and content development for artists.

Following outputs and activities will be developed and implemented within the project:
Platform for artists and youth organisations
Manual with guidebook and online course on topic of supporting artists in local communities through youth work activities
Online conference: Issues of performers and dance artists in the light of the new normal
Training course: Youth work support to inspiring artists and art in our local communities
