Project Summary

The project, entitled “Exchange of Best Practices for the Sustainable Establishment & Successful Existence of Youth Parliaments” will take place during the period from February 1, 2021 to July 31, 2022. (duration: 18 months)
The main applicant is the association Youth Council Liechtenstein which organizes and carries out this project together with the Initiative Youth Parliament e.V.
About 20 participants per event will participate. It is important to ensure a balanced distribution of the groups of participants.

The organizations worked / work together already from old projects or current engagement / exchange. The present application is intended to bring the organizations closer together again and to take advantage of the great synergy opportunities.
The most relevant priority of the present project is to promote participation, networking and empowerment of young people.

The relevant topics of the application are:
– Youth (participation, youth policy)
– Reaching the political level / dialogue with decision-makers
– Social commitment

We hope that the project will help us:
– bring the participating organizations closer together
– to combine the existing strengths and capabilities more and to use synergy effects
– Exchanges on a multinational level with teenagers and young adults with similar commitments

Our goals are the following:
– 1) Networking and exchange between the organizations and between the people currently involved in the organizations
– 2) Building understanding and empathy for the respective European countries as well as for the local conditions and traditions
– 3) Developing a deeper understanding of political systems
– 4) Normative evaluation of the status quo of the degree of political participation in the respective regions
– 5) Presentation of local projects (in all areas such as political participation & information, social activities, member participation, …)
– 6) Exchange of experience about experiences of the last years
– 7) Best practice for structures / building a youth parliament
– 8) BestPractice for sustainable revitalization of youth parliaments
– 9) Strategy for the creation of new youth parliaments

The project is divided into the following main activities:
– March 2021: KickOff in Malbun, Liechtenstein
The KickOff is one of the most important events of the project. At this event, all organizations see themselves together on site and enable a different kind of contact than via the digital channels. The members of the organizations introduce themselves and exchange information about the existing conditions within the framework of a cultural framework program. The different political systems are presented and a discussion about the advantages and disadvantages is started. The political system of Liechtenstein will be illustrated by a visit to the local buildings.

– June 2021: Youth and Politics – Visit to the Federal Agency for Civic Education
Visit in Düsseldorf to the Federal Agency for Civic Education. Also exchange on site about the projects carried out and experiences made by the organizations. Also a detailed evaluation of the political participation of young people in the regions will be made.

– November 2021: Youth and politics – Visit of the German Bundestag in Berlin, Germany
The objective is to meet political representatives of all the parliamentary groups represented in the German Bundestag in order to exchange views with them. Furthermore, it is planned to organize an event at ministerial level. The goal is to work out a best practice of how a structure/structure of a youth parliament could look like. Furthermore, processes and strategies for the foundation of youth parliaments are to be worked out.

– February 2022: Youth and Politics – Visit Embassy / Parliament of the EU in Brussels, Belgium
The plan is to hold an event lasting several days in the Belgian capital. The main aim of this event is to exchange best practices for actively revitalizing youth parliaments. In addition to active counseling and the exchange of experiences, we would also like to visit the foreign representations of Liechtenstein and Germany and discuss the current results. Getting to know the political system of the EU including a visit to the parliament

– May 2022: Graduation in Vaduz, Liechtenstein
A closing event in Liechtenstein is planned to last several days. The goal is to review the events carried out as a team as well as the results of these events together. The developed results shall be presented.
