Project Summary

Music is a universal language, a channel of expression that connects people and reduces the disparities amongst them. Anyone can practice music, regardless of age, gender, religion, cultural or economic background and status in society. Music provides a safety net for young people to express their thoughts and feelings on serious topics without facing the social pressure that comes within. It is what makes it such a good and practical tool for youth work.

This project addresses diversity through various approaches such as jamming for inclusion and crafting instruments as a bonding activity that further more provides an opportunity for inclusion of all participants (by using their crafted instrument). It incorporates creative writing workshops that enhances creativity and fosters improvements within both the mother tongue competence and a foreign language. The idea that is common to all of this is to share the best practices amongst all the participating organizations.

This project engages almost 60 participants from 4 different countries: Luxembourg, Macedonia, Estonia and Czech Republic. It also brings together transnational activities and meetings in 4 different countries during the period of 22 months. The profile of participants covers key volunteers/staff from the participating organizations and local volunteers active in youth work interested in the topic. Part of these volunteers belong to minorities, refugees and participants with fewer opportunities.

All activities are based on non-formal methods and tools that the participating organizations use within their local activities.

The goal of this project is to support, empower each other and build up on the positive practices of each partner. The more experienced partners will benefit from fresh and innovative ideas of the newcomers, and vice versa; the newcomers will benefit from the experience of the well-established partners in this project. This will lead to a long-term strong partnership amongst these 4 organizations and it will increase their capacity to organize high-quality activities within their communities in the future.
