Effective Communication Skills for the European Youth of the XXI Century

The project’s aim is to improve students’ capability to use a range of communicative modes in a international, intergenerational and working life context
The most relevant objective of the project is to improve the level of key competences and skills with special regard to the labor market including communication, digital and soft skills.
The project offers students possibilities to improve their communicative skills and to use foreign languages face-to-face during theme weeks and experiences of verbal and emotional communication in different cultures. While the students explore and research communication aspects during the activity sections, they also practise social codes and networking and thus develope social communication skills like networking and thus prepare for ever-changing study and worklife demands.

The countries involved have been selected on the basis of cultural differences. The geographical differencies, distancies and different cultural backgrounds guarantee that the the range of communication modes will be discussed and processed widely.

The project is based on Deep Learning Competencies, so called The 6 C’s.

The themes of 6 C’s are to be processed in activity sections that include the visiting week, preparations tasks, Etwinning meetings, evaluation and dissemination. The activity section have been planned in order to offer students possibilities to improve a wide range of communicative modes on the basis of the 6 C’s:

Staff training event 10/2020 (3 days)
Tools and methods for teachers: two teachers/school
– moderns digital solutions
– evaluation tools for key competencies and self-evaluation
– labor market integration models
– Cross-curricular themes/courses in schools: how to integrate different school subjects in order to developing basic skills and key competencies

Students mobilities 2020-2022: 6 students and two teachers from each school (5 days)

The main project outcomes, published in a multimedia digital form:
– an e-guide with advice how to successfully apply for a job
– a collection of acquired skills at international labor market
– a job interview film as an example
– documented knowledge how to achieve a structured professional presentation
– documentation of written, oral and media communication skills needed in working life
– tutorials about following themes: fake news, social media’s role and impact in students’ life, emotional intelligence, nonverbal communication, communication with different age groups
– an public event in the hosting school for all students

All students of the project contribute to the outcomes (pictures, texts, video clips, podcasts). As its best this outcome serve in future as a collection of ideas and best pedagogical practises for both international upper secondary projects but also for pedagogics of communication education.
Students interested in projects fill a Europass application including Curriculum vitae and cover letter. At the end of activity section, students get an Europass Mobility Diploma.

Long term benefits:
-future exchange possibilities: encourages students to apply for studies of degree at European universities and to take part in Erasmus+ exchange programmes
-prepares students for international positions in worklife
-creates a pedagogical development network between the schools involved in the project
-Shared best practices and the main project outcomes can be used as learning materials and pedagogic models for teachers
-enables the schools to create also smaller-scale cross-curricula practices also in future – between the schools and between school subjects
-Creates awareness of Etwinning, Europass and Europass Mobility Diploma generally
-Europass as a portfolio for the students’ competencies gives a concrete tool for students to make their skills visible and recognizable
