Project Summary

Passion and experience in theatrical activities at school gave birth to the project “Europe Reinassance”. We are three partners schools located in Italy,Greece and Austria and we came together in the idea ofexperimenting an innovative teaching method using performing theatrical activitison subjects such as History and History of Art.

Pedagogical methods of “Drama in Education”inspired us, we intend to change the traditional teaching approach or integrate it with practical performing activities that involve students in the creation of historical re-enactments -one for each country- and multimedia products -useful tools for everyone, to share online as learning objects and more accessible. It is a proposal capable of motivating and including students of various skills and social backgrounds.

After considering the vocational specificities and the needs of the schools involved in the project, we identified the following goals among the European key competences:
– educate on the value of the European cultural heritage (material and immaterial) studied and staged in suggestive city places that reproduce the historical contexts represented.
-testing a new approach to the disciplines through performance activities.
-share and compare with other European schools, exchange good practices.
-inclusive education and contrast early school leaving.
– implement the digital skills of pupils and teachers.
-develop social skills and intercultural skills following interaction with other languages and cultures.
-develop language skills. Language courses will be organized to achieve a European certification, but above all, pupils of the three schools involved – who study English language as the 1st foreign language – will use it as a target language throughout the project, improving communication skills.
Each country will involve an average of 4 escorts and 12 students aged between 11 and 15 in the three planned mobilities (Italy, Greece and Austria).

November 2020 / January 2021 preliminary activities:
• LTTA seminar and project organization.
• Introduction to the use of twinspace
• knowledge between pupils via twinspace (and other methods)
• preparation of tools (logo creation, website / blog creation, presentation video clip)
• learning of technologies (software for making videos etc.).

January / May 2021: 4 permanent workshops begin (Theatrical, Computer, Twinspace and Music / dance / Choreographic). The laboratories will carry on the work in parallel by creating a series of final products.
The three countries collaborate on the “Italian Renaissance” under the guidance of the Italian patner.
A. theater workshop – writing texts, assigning roles and rehearsals for the show “Insula Baglioni”
B. multimedia laboratory – creation of multimedia products:
1. video clip / cartoon about the show.
2. video clip “Best of Umbria”
3. Creation of products for dissemination (posters, flyers, Teaser trailers)
C. etwinning laboratory – interaction between partners with twinspace, meet, and more.
D. music / dance workshop: -podcast of Renaissance music
– execution of a Renaissance dance.

June / November 2021 collaboration on the Greek Renaissance under the guidance of the Greek team. The workshops remain the same with the same organization and goals: setting up a historical re-enactment “A Bridge to West Europe”, podcasts of Renaissance music and dance, video clips to illustrate the representation (A Bridge to West Europe) and to present the city (Best of Ioannina).

From December to May 2022 collaboration on the Austrian Renaissance under the guidance of the Austrian team: preparation of the show “Massimiliano – the last knight”, podcast of local Renaissance music and historical dance workshop, production of two video clips: “Massimiliano – the last knight ” and “Best of Wels”.

The project involves schools and cities communities, as well as local theater and cultural organizations, contributing to their development because: 1. It will implement the profiles of organizations; 2.Encourage internationalization and the emergence of a deeper European awareness; 3. It will offer new opportunities to create further partnerships and projects.

The project lasts 2 years. Dissemination will take place several times throughout the project. It will start on the first meeting with the involvement of the Italian school and town, then intermediate dissemination events are scheduled for each country, in the following month the realization of its show (June 2021 Italy, December 2021 Greece and June 2022 Austria). The final dissemination event will be held in Italy in October 2022, with the participation and contribution of all.
