Project Summary

The project will be implemented with 6 partners. How this project idea came up is that, we are living in the “modern age”, everything goes very fast, there is no time for the common things in live and so also no time for reading generally. Children come to school in the first grade with about 6 years and most of them don’t really had a contact with books and could not develope love for reading. With the time throughout their education they dont read, they dont write and think and so it comes that they can’t really express themselves and their vocabulary is very poor. Reading on storytelling is a creative way and it can change this. If we show students that reading can be interesting and funny, we will make them courious and they will start reading.
Moreover,it is very fun for kids to adapt a good fairy tale. Fairy tales pass from hearth to hearth. They express deep truths about human history and nature. Children and also adults love fairy tales when they are told in a different perspectives. Good fairy tales have become a world’s cultural heritage instead of a country’s cultural heritage.
Additionally,it is observed that when in class a subject is performed with fairy tales,it is %90 understood easily and is permanent. When the subject is taught with traditional methods, it is easily forgotten.
Learning behind cultural borders means also to know something about our neighbors. So we think it is a big chance for learning to look over borders. Especially the theme-fairy tales-is a subject, where nearly every child can be part of and it is very motivating. We think, it is a big chance for teaching and learning, to let grow the motivation for learning, to open the view on living,to improve our competences and to boost school development.
Objectives of our project are;
*we aim to increase the academic success of students
*To develop critical thinking
*we aim to over the problematic behaviours of children
*to improve the reading ability
*to increase the vocabulary in the mother tongue
*in order to grasp the importance of cultural heritage of societies and to protect it and to transfer them to generation to generation
*for the self-development of teachers, so that they can learn new methods and apply them in their lessons
*in order to exchange good practices in the partner country schools and disseminate on the returning back to school
*in order to recognise and respect different cultures, countries and people
*to create an oppurtunity for students who don’t have a chance to go abroad.
*to support foreign language learning
*in order to apply the activities which will improve students’ expressing themselves and improve self confidence
*in order to plan and apply activities which will increase students’ school success
Totally we will have 75 pupils and 65 teachers mobilities within 6 partners. One LTT will be for staff training in Portugal and five LTTs will be for pupils. We expect to effect 13000 people from our project.
Concrete results of our project will be; e-book,Project calender, web-site,facebook, questionnaire results, exhibition, bulletin, notice board, pictures
The common point in this project is getting the students to read and love what they do. Through different activities like storytelling , playing theatre rolls, making their own stories they will develope many skills like understandig their culture and the culture of other coutries, they can better determine what is right or wrong, they develope critical thinking and the most imprtant of all, all the activities make fun an the students feel free and happy.
The involved schools’ academical success will increase. Because problematic behaviours seen at schools will lower and wanted behaviours will develop among students. Their communication skills will develop and the permanency of learning will be provided. The cooperation between teachers will increase and they will be motivated. Peace and trust environment will be formed in schools. Parents’ point of view to schools will improve positively.
Additionally, it will enrich their knowledge, especially at the exchange of stories. Also, children are very interested in children from other countries so we could easily set up communication through internet or writing to each other.
As Albert Einstein said “If you want your children to be intelligent, read them fairy tales. If you want them to be more intelligent, read them more fairy tales.”
