Project Summary

The European Union faces great changes in society. A cultural melting pot has emerged from immigration and opening borders. Thereby living together, working together and learning together is a humane challenge. Different cultures can cause conflicts and can hinder people to unfold.
Within the project Manifold Europe we want to encourage students to show interest in their own and in other cultures. We want them to be willing to experience new inputs. Students and teachers should try to find a way of “working” together although there are differences in life style and learning. In order to be able to work and live with all the differences, we have to start with getting to know more about each other and to accept the differences between cultures.
To accomplish that we have to start by finding our own identity, beginning with our heritage. Why do we do what we do? What are the reasons for some common habits?
Only when we know why we have certain manners we can explain them to people with different cultures and customs. During this project we want to make both students and teachers aware of the cultural diversity of the society they live in.
Doing so, all participants will learn from and with each other.
During this project all students will make video presentations of typical cultural habits within their own country. These videos, impressions and photos will be presented on YouTube, Instagram and eTwinning in order to make them easily accessible for a lot of people, especially to the participating students and teachers of the other schools.
All teachers and students of the participating schools can follow the ongoings of the project on social media.

In common meetings the students get to know other cultures and they can exchange experiences.
Students learn a lot about their own and foreign culture by field trips and guest speakers in their own country and in another country and by meeting students of other cultures via video conference and student exchange meetings.
They also learn a lot about their own and foreign culture by national meetings of the students’ groups by preparing meals, fashion-shows, music presentations for the videos for the other students in the other countries.
In these meetings they will learn a lot by discussing the videos of the other students in the different countries.
Teachers can swap ideas, get information from other countries and will be encouraged to integrate the different cultures in class.
There will be over 25 teachers and 200 students of at least six different countries involved in the project.
Teachers will be more experienced in contact with students with migrant/minority background and will be more open minded, students will be more open minded and more interested in other cultures and have more tolerance to foreign cultures.
This project is splitted up in 3 parts:
period 1: Working on the own culture (September 2019 – March 2020)
period 2: Working on the culture of migrants/minorities in the own country (April 2020 – November 2020)
period 3: Working on the culture of countries who participate in the project (December 2020 – June 2021)
