Project Summary
This project was conceived for several reasons. In the first place, it is a unique opportunity to combine cultural exchanges and human encounters in the same project. In a second place this project involves several activities that allow students from 15 to 19 years as teachers of different nationalities to work together naturally and not only virtually, on the other hand, it is a way to apply what only It is seen in theory with school textbooks and live a unique human experience. It can also be said that today the social and human identity of European people is not truly known and an exchange of this kind is a human wealth that allows us to learn many things that books do not say. Students will arrange walls with paintings by Picasso in their cities and towns with permissions from
the Town Councils. They will unite their knowledge about Europe in a video contest “We want Europe”, Kahoot Game about Europe, they will create “We like Europe” videos based on their recordings in their exchanges. They will make presentations of the cities and the schools, presentation of the logo for the contest among all institutes, a presentation about Pablo Picasso will be done by all institutes together through the social networks and in the first meeting they will all
present it together. They will make a digital report with real documents (newspaper news, videos, photos of places and cities) to denounce atrocities that have happened in their countries, comparing Picasso’s iconic symbols with other committed European painters; in plenary through debates they will contribute ideas against a culture of violence developing a critical look to identify themselves as active agents, capable of committing themselves to their contexts and acting to modify them based on common interests. The participants of each Country will elaborate a collage that identifies aspects of the country of origin and a collage that indicates, according to their knowledge, characteristics and elements of the partner countries. All together will make a unique collage, in the manner of Picasso, with photos that they will make themselves or that they can recover from their previous trips through their own country and partner countries. They should not use press photos or the internet. They can choose a peculiar theme of the country (nature, sport, water, flowers and wild animals). They can also mix several themes. The collage can be made with whole photos or cut photos and a unique work of art will be created as the result of a collaborative work. As writers they will write a book about Pablo Picasso “Survining Picasso”. They will create a handbook with ELE exercises (topic – art of P. Picasso), a pedagogical inovation that can be used by ELE teachers in classroom. ELE exercises will develop all lenguage skills. The play “Picasso lives forever” will deal with some periods of his life.
Picasso´s legacy lives for ever in active citizenship. The objectives are both communicative and social. They are communicative from the point of view that students can naturally speak a language they have studied for several years in class with textbooks without being able to speak in an authentic way. Thanks to this project, they will speak with several native people with whom they will live common experiences through a cultural project. The European Union is being built for some years and the cement that will unite the different bricks that form it is the knowledge of the people that make it up and that knowledge goes through shared experiences together and a physical connection. To know each other, people have to see each other, and they have to share fair experiences and this is the goal of such a project. To feel European and have the feeling that the members of Europe belong to the same nation, the people of those countries have to see where they live and with that project, they can go home to each other and share each other’s lives. This project it also allows to put students in confidence, motivate them to break the barrier of fear of speaking because they will be with other students from other countries and they will see that they are not the only ones who learn the Spanish language. This experience is very important because in class they cannot live it in the same way and objectively realize what they will be living with this project in contact with other students who, because they learn Spanish, is the bestthing that can happen to them. In addition, they will experience for themselves that what is important is to enjoy speaking Spanish. They will live another dimension of learning thanks to this project and they will realize that many rules and abilities are common among them and their corresponding ones.
