Project Summary
CULTURAL HERITAGE: AN INCLUSIVE PATH FOR PARTICIPATION AND EXCHANGE IN EUROPE.
It is a two-year, exchange of good practices project, having as a Priority the Social Inclusion. Additional priorities are: Social and educational value of European cultural heritage, its contribution to job creation, economic growth and social cohesion and Tackling early school leaving and disadvantage. Topics relevant are Equity and Migrants’ issues. Six schools from Cyprus, Greece, Portugal, Estonia, Poland, and Romania are involved in the project. 23%of the children in the project face Social or economic obstacles, refugee issues, or other difficulties. We aim through innovative ways, not only to help children learn their cultural heritage better, but also appreciate and accept the culture of others. By achieving self-awareness, and inclusive mindset and attitude, we could also reduce the dropout rate of the participating schools. we will help the children acquire lifelong work skills and become active European citizens in a cohesive Europe of the 21st century. We will work on four aspects of cultural heritage. These are Art, Monuments, Games-Dances, and Fairy tales. Through innovative computer technologies and living interaction with other cultural heritage, learning respect, appreciation, and acceptance, we will acquire an inclusive mindset.
we will have 6 Learning teaching training activities (LTTA), two of these will additionally include joined stuff activities, so that teachers, as well as children, have the opportunity to interact, witness new methods feel part of a group, train and improve. Our method is based on integration, specifically, In all activities, the visiting children will be integrated into mixed groups and will become part of the school’s social group, and experience the hostings school’s life. We will use eTwinning online meetings to open the LTTA to more children and teachers from the sending schools.
Our Main objectives are to:
1. Improve awareness, understanding, and respect of other culture’s heritage as well as one’s own and the importance of its protection.
2. Promote the acceptance of differences and diversity, and cultivate inclusion in schools.
3. Assist the school community to better handle social phenomena such as Immigration and Refugees.
4. Foster citizen’s skills by implementing critical thinking, Information Computer Technologies (ICT) and by encouraging a feeling of acceptance and belonging.
5. Improve the cultural and Educational capital by improving lifelong -job Skills and reducing Drop out rates.
6. Help children, through mobility, to become active European citizens, adjustable to changes and open to progress, and prepared to work together and achieve common goals.
7. Explore school communities and culture across Europe, to promote common European values and enhance social cohesion.
8. Develop creativity and artistic expression.
9. Advance English language skills.
10. Compare teaching methods, school strategies, and organization, innovative software and web tools use, to improve school results and reduce the dropout rates among participating schools.
11. Coordinate with local associations, community, and school boards to, implement the project, evaluate and disseminate it’s results.
12. Through arts such as painting, dance, theatre, and games encourage among children an optimistic view of the future, friendship, alliance, and emotional and social skills.
To achieve these objectives we will cooperate, work closely and evenly, and produce :
1. A packet of Art projects to promote inclusion and acceptance in connection to immigrant and refugee issues.
2. A packet of Dance and Traditional Games Videos
3. An e -booklet with children’s Fairy-tales continuing a sent story from other participant school using characters from children’s with obstacles tradition.
4. A manual of Management and Administration strategies taken to promote inclusion.-.A packet of lesson plans to promote inclusion.
5. A booklet of children’s poems promoting inclusion.
6. A packet of activities using monuments, arts, theatre, and ICT to promote cultural awareness and acceptance.
We will create local commissions in each school to monitor the progress of the products and the implementation of the project, under a central coordinating Main Committee.
We will have an initial and final evaluation, and also an evaluation after each LTTA.
Projects results will be disseminated through the website, eTwinning, European platform results, twinspace, broadcasting programs, and flyers and bookmarkers including a QR code with the website, will be distributed on every event for parents, teachers and the broader community. Results will also be communicated to our Collaborative Organizations which are :
Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Cyprus Pedagogical Institute, municipalities, school authorities, schools’ comities, and School Advisors, for lasting use.
