Project Summary

The project is called European Cultural Heritage and Ecotourism (e-CH@T).
The main objectives of our project are the social and educational value of European cultural heritage and its contribution to job creation as well as the responsible citizenship in promoting tourism based on the local cultural heritage by using eco-friendly ways of transport. The result of cultural awareness should be ideas for a development of concepts for sustainable tourism and an entrepreneurial attitude of the students taking part in the project.
In our four partner schools in Austria, Finland, Italy and Spain we noticed a certain lack of awareness of the importance of cultural heritage and an urgent need to increase the awareness and the responsibility about the consequences of continuing today’s way of life that means wasting energy and ressources with little self-responsibility about the consequences for nature, environment and the next generations.
We will work about self-directiveness in taking initiatives to preserve nature and environment and take care of cultural heritage. Furthermore students should find out possibilities to present the cultural heritage in an interesting and reasonable way by using ecologic transports like bicycles or segways, by walking or using other eco-friendly possibilities.
Ecotourism should open students’ minds for entrepreneurship and possibilities of work in new careers and let them find out ways how to preserve energy or protect the nature and the environment in touristic sites and how to implement cultural heritage and nature in business at local level. Local sports offers should be included in the development of touristic entrepreneurship, so that the ecological thinking is not only referred to nature and ressources, but also to the personal health of students and people.
Healthy food is a natural consequence of this attitude, so that there will also be activities dedicated on this argument by including preparation of typical food of every country, that is also part of the cultural heritage. There will be an international evening during every short term mobility and students shall bring healthy and ecological food of their own countries.
In the project, we try to capture the cultural heritage and concretise the idea of changes and opportunities that new technology and innovative business can offer locally. For example, what the existing environment together with local stakeholders and innovative minds can offer to present day people by using ecologically and sustainable its human and natural resources.
One of the first activities will be the presentation of the own country from a historical or another point of view. This activity will increase students’ awareness of the history or other important points of their own country in order to get in touch with the themes and the objectives of the project.
Another activity will ask students to develop a sustainable tourism program for other young people with the aim to present their region. They should promote their regions in short videos or brochures and show their entrepreneurial competences – these videos and brochures will also be presented during the short term mobilities to the auditorium of the students and teachers of the partner schools.
The organization of a sports event using the locally offered sports trainings will be another activity. Students shall create a sports event for the students of the Erasmus+ project and invite other students of the school community to take part in these events.
These activities will increase the students’ awareness of the local realities and cultural heritage and give them the possibility of the development of entrepreneurial activities in order to create new jobs or a new business in their future.
These project activities will be visualized by the production of short videos, brochures or Power Point Presentations and the documentation of the whole project development will be shown on a project website and in a TwinSpace on eTwinning.
Six long-term study mobilities for students will be offered in each partner school. The participating students will get the opportunity to stay two months in another partner school, live in local families, participate in local activities and immerge into another European culture. They will realize the profits of being a European citizen and of free mobility in Europe. With the experience of the long-term study mobility it will be easier for them to study in another European university after school and they will be more flexible when it comes to find a job in another European country.
Each school will fulfil the project tasks with a team of approx. 10 teachers and 25 students.
The coordinators of three partner schools have long experience in the coordination of European school partnerships. The Spanish school is a newcomer in the field of physical school partnerships, but have got experiences with various eTwinning projects.
