Project Summary

• Main objective of our project is exchange of good practices. Motivation of our project “We are looking for future Olympic Stars” are the individual needs of our
schools. These are e.g.:
– increasing the number of sport classes in school;
– extend the age of active pupils’ sports;
– reduce incidence of nutrition diseases such as obesity and diabetes;
– motivate pupils to participate in out-of-school sports;
– to highlight the importance of sport;
– to have a professional comparison with partners in other countries;
– cooperate with the pupils from abroad at the international level, and motivate them to get better results. Common penetration of the needs of our schools is
located in our acronym: “athletic bridges” and we want: Through chosen athletic disciplines, which represent natural movements of a man, to bring pupils to
regular sports, desire to improve and lead a healthy lifestyle. Coordinator is Slovakia. Partner countries are Romania, Bulgaria, Croatia and Italy.
The goals of our project emerged from the needs of individual schools.

• Our primary objective is to motivate pupils to take part in regular sport activities and in an effort to improve. The secondary objectives are: a) We want to get to
know the didactics and methodics of athletics teaching in partner countries. b) We want to improve our athletic terminology in the English language, which is
the official language of the IAAF. c) We want to get known and to learn to respect multicultural differences, specifics of partner countries in the fields of sport,
gastronomy, culture, history, religion and race. d) we want to develop an interest in the healthy lifestyle of the pupils, to try to develop a symbiosis of body and
spirit development –Kalos kagathos , and a sense of a fair play. According to the objectives of our project we want to support individuals in acquiring and
developing basic skills and competences and it is addressed to three topics.
1.Pedagogy and didactics: getting to know didactics and methodology of athletic education in partner countries and this way to develop the relevant and high-
quality skills and competences.
2.Teaching and learning of foreign languages: improving on athletic terminology as well as face-to-face daily communication in English.
3.Health and wellbeing: developing heathy lifestyle.

• Number and profile of participants:
– 3364 pupils aged 11-14 using the project results;
– 500 pupils participating in Virtual Competition;
– 250 pupils involved in project outputs;
– 184 of mobilities organized;
– 50 teachers involved in project activities;
– 15 persons of school leadership involved in project activities;
– 5 primary schools involved in project activities;
– 5 Sports Clubs;
– 5 Town Halls.

• Description of activities:
– 5 short terms exchanges of groups of pupils (learning, teaching and training activities);
– 41 project management meetings, dissemination activities and other local activities and events in each school;

• Methodics to be used:
Sport: e.g.
– optimal running and walking techniques;
– development of endurance and special pace;
– Sprints: Methodics of starting training, correct running technique at maximum speed;
– Jumps: Methodics of star, reflection, flight phase, landing training;
Health: e.g.
– lectures on healthy eating habits;
– preparing healthy meals;
– lectures on healthy lifestyle;
– examples of ambassadors.

• Main tangible results:
– practical tool Video – Methodical film
– Innovativeness:Terminological Dictionary of specific athletic vocabulary in English with translations to all five languages;
– Added value of the project is training led by sport ambassadors;
– eTwinning Platform – participating in Virtual Mobilities via the Virtual Competition;
– presentations from lectures on healthy eating habits and healthy lifestyle;
– promotional materials on participation in Erasmus+ Project, with its description;
– increased sport skills and achievements in Virtual Competition.

• Main intangible results:
– knowledge and experience gained by all participants;
– improved cultural awareness;
– better language skills in sport terminology and everyday communication in English.

• Impact envisaged:
– exchanging of good practices in teaching didactics and methodics of athletics teaching in participant countries;
– supporting individuals in acquiring and developing basic skills and key competences in regular doing of sports, an effort to improve and healthy lifestyle;
– using athletic terminology in the English language;

• Potential longer term benefits:
– acquired competences of the participants;
– positive reputational effects for the participating organisations;
– continuing in the Virtual Competition;
– open licence for Methodical film and Terminological Dictionary.
