Project Summary
Our partnership comprises four schools in Poland, Italy, Turkey and England. Unfortunately the Turkish partner was not able to take part as they were deemed ineligible by the Turkish national agency. The remaining partners agreed to continue the project, with our Turkish partner’s blessing.
This project is based on role models who have great influence at establishing the personality of young people during their adolescence, which is a delicate period of change. According to the records of the student guidance services at partner schools, a great many of students choose wrong role models. This is a crucial matter as the youth aspire to be like them, either in present or in the future. Our aim is to make young people follow or emulate role models who have good values, believe in democratic principles, support human rights, peace but object to sexism and racism. We guided them by presenting role models as examples who will motivate and inspire the young towards positive behaviour and right choices. Thus, role models will be a kind of instruments to reach our objectives and desired consequences.
We selected students who are in the risk group, indifferent to school, have absenteeism problem and tend to early school leaving. By giving them responsibility, we developed their confidence, help them realise their skills and have the feeling of belonging to a group, which will rise their interest to school and foster their success. Through internalising the good values of the role models, they will absorb the idea that the world can be more peaceful only with the people who are democratic, respect human rights, support world peace and that the phenomenon of racism and sexism make people enemies of each other, which emerges a threat to the world peace. They will also absorb that everybody should get the same treatment regardless of where they were born, their race, their religion and citizens all have political, social and economic equality.
We believe that artistic expression eg through theatre, dance or music will be the most effective trigger for the students as they will participate actively and will have the opportunity to be able to choose an activity according to their interests and abilities. That’s why, we will use art as a universal instrument. Their performance will be created to promote values demonstrated by their role models and will be performed at each school. The project song will be written and composed with the contribution of all the partner schools. Theatre plays, dance performances and the song will consist of the themes: democracy, human rights, peace, racism and sexism. Thus, methodology of the project will be activity based and solution oriented because of the positive contribution of the project objectives to young people.
The students prepared their presentations with different web tools, which will develop their ICT skills. Through international meetings, cultural sharing and collaboration between the partner schools, their prejudices will vanish, but long-lasting international friendship will be built. The teachers will improve their professional skills and become better at guiding the students in the risk group.
We have arranged our dissemination plan in the dimension of national and international. Project website and YouTube channel, Facebook and Instagram accounts and Erasmus corners at partner schools will be created. Etwinning project was carried out as subproject. Each partner school held a project presentation meeting. The project website is in three languages: English, Italian, and Polish. The performances in the transnational meetings were recorded and shared in the project dissemination tools. The presentations and the materials created during the period of the project is visual to attract the attention of the young and to be able to be published on social media. An e-magazine was created, working jointly with all the partner schools and published at the end of the project. All results are published on the project website.
