Project Summary

The motivation for the project lies in the current situation in the world and Europe. If we read different reports and studies like „Global Trends to 2035“ or ESPAS’ report „Global trends to 2030: Can the EU meet the challenges ahead?“, we see that there are worrying processes and trends threatening our society mostly on social and cultural level, as weakening of the culture of tolerance, of trust in governments and „higher“ institutions and of the EU citizenship feeling among the youth.

The project has several objectives:
– Promoting European values such as tolerance, democracy, equality, freedom of speech, diversity and solidarity
– Promoting democratic participation of youth and active citizenship
– Promoting cultural diversity and valuing of European cultural heritage
– Eliminating stereotypes and prejudices due to cultural differences
– Facilitating a better mutual understanding and a deeper dialogue between different nations
– Finding common values for the youth from different European countries

Main visible results of the project:
– Presentations about the most famous writers, artists and musicians from our 6 countries and about the values they promote with their creation
– Pieces of art, music and literature inspired by the famous artworks of our 6 countries made by the youth
– Dictionary of the most important values of the youth
– Photo exhibitions, music festival, short films and theater performances promoting the most important values for the youth
– Visits to European Institutions
– International debating tournament on European values
– International students’ conference
– Opinion Festival on values/World Café
– Tables representing the parties (from our 6 countries) and values they stand for
– Our own campaign to promote the important values for us (posters, videos)
– The Charter of the Values of the European Youth
– eTwinning page for the project

The participants who will get the direct benefit of the project, are the students and teachers and families of the 6 partner schools. All the schools will try to involve as many students as possible and many project activities will be carried out with several different classes based on their sections or modules. The schools try to involve at least 15%-20% of students in project activities.
The participants who will get the indirect benefit, are the students and teachers from other schools in our towns and regions and local communities. The project will enable the partner schools to collaborate with several local institutions, as:
– The Center of Human Rights, Estonian Association of Debating in Estonia
– Art Museum “João Mário”; Historical Museum “Damião de Goes”; Town Hall of Alenquer in Portugal
– The University of Pécs, Europe Direct Information Point, Apáczai Cultural Centre, UNESCO World Heritage Centre in Pécs in Hungary
– Ignatianum Academy in Cracow, Podhale State Vocational in Nowy Targ, The Culture Centre in Tuchów, District Museum in Tarnów in Poland
– Municipality and Immigration Center of Gaziantep and Istanbul
and
European Parliament, House of European History, City Council of Aarschot in Belgium.

In order to carry out the project activities and achieve the project’s goals, different methods will be used, as:
– collaborative tasks in multinational teams
– lectures followed by discussions
– interactive and practical workshops
– educational tours and visits
– between the LTTAS working online via eTwinning platform
– creative activities.

The visible results will be used and shown after the project’s end, also the skills, knowledge and competences will be shared for many years with future students and colleagues. The results will partly be integrated in the curricula of all the 6 schools as a basis for the methodology used in class. We expect to renew pedagogical methods and to develop the quality of teaching, by promoting the development of linguistic, intercultural and social skills and by developing the creativity, critical thinking, democratic participation and active citizenship of our students. In addition, we expect that the project will contribute to develop international networking of all 6 partner schools. It offers a chance to strengthen partnerships, exchanges and other links between the partner schools in long-term. It will also enrich the teamwork and this will create a positive school climate in our participating schools because the project will allow people from different social, cultural and religious background to work together, to develop the European and national citizenship and to promote collaboration. The participation in the project will raise the studying motivation of the students by offering interactive activities that relate formal and non-formal learning through inclusive tasks and events.

All the 6 schools will join UNESCO Associated Schools Network and continue some project activities annually.
All schools will apply for the national and European quality label for the eTwinning project
