Facing the increasing tasks of vocational secondary schools this project tries to improve foreign language skills by laying stress an them to pass successfully the final A-level-exam. Combined sports and languages issues target not only an intensive embedding of the soccer team´s students. Beyond these particular participants many more students of both partnerschools will be included for improving their foreign language skills.
The didactical conception is based on soccer enthusiastic students´ promotion (most students have migration background) for getting towards sustainably better foreign language competences connected with the sportive project´s content.
Concerning the sportive aspects talent scouting, training exercises, championship and tournament participation, a training camp as well are planned to take place at the partnership school´s location abroad.
In addition to sports activities taught in English, crossover school lessons in other subjects will be held, as well. Soccer-content will not only be embedded in English lessons, but also in subjects like history, geography, political education, social and human resources, business and law, all of them taught in CLIL.
Besides this primary goal a lot of further (horizontal and sectorial) priorities can be expected.
Some of them are:
• Soccer, a tool to overcome barriers and boundaries
• Awareness for shared values
• Promotion of team spirit for identifying with the team and school for a better school success
• Personal development by integration
• Equal opportunities for immigrant students
• Promotion of intercultural skills, exchange of experience
Goals going beyond:
• Role-model-effect of the project
Inspiration for students to achieve academic and sporting success
Making fellow teachers keen on future Erasmus+ projects
• Contribution to the European development plan
• Attracting the school location
In order to emphasize the sustainability of this project, it is pointed out that during the project, teaching units will be developed in a wide variety of subjects (English, sport, CLIL (history, geography, economics and law, political education, etc.) that will be used beyond the duration of the project. In addition, a trilingual dictionary (German-Portuguese-English) with relevant football terms is to be developed.
A final project video and a digital portfolio created in the course of the project will not only serve to document the project. In addition to various websites of both schools, these digital project results are to be presented, for example, at open days, school fairs, etc. to make the two school locations more attractive.
All experience and knowledge gained will of course flow into future teaching and project planning beyond the end of the project.
