Project Summary
Our 5 schools are convinced of the emergency to raise sustainable growth awareness through simple sensible actions avoiding any sensational mediatic ecological speech. Thus our project aims at raising the young generation awareness to sustainable ecological but also social and economic issues.
Our goal is to make teenagers concious of possible alterations but also make them part of these changes by showing them the limits of our consuming society thanks to simple and easily reproduced actions. The fourty 13-15 year-old students in year 9 or year 10 involved in the project for 2 years will reproduce good practises or actions they will have witnessed, practised and shared with partner schools. These good practises will first aim at improving the operation, the environment and atmosphere of each one of our schools by including every operator, students, teachers, administrative and technical staff. Without collaboration no change such as paper recycling and reuse, water saving, garden creations…will be possible and the students involved in the project must be aware of this from the very start.
Then, through partnerships with local councils and local businesses we want to promote sustainable growth actions such as composting in the neighbourhoods for example or bike paths creations
The propagation of good practises will be all the more efficient that our project plans to have students taking part in the various actions and since they will have participated and shared their experience with other European teenagers, they will know and show they can make changes. Thus in Romania, the collection and sorting of wastes in the Aries valley will be an example of what organised and informed youths can do. The participating students will also modify practises within their own families and the acquisition of the Eco school label for our schools will help us inform widely on good practises. We aim at spreading not only ecofriendly good practises but also global sustainable growth simple practises undertaken by self-reliant and responsible students themselves on various levels.
The concrete perceptible outcomes of our project are improving the environment in our schools and neighboorhoods with reducing trash and wastes thanks to students and adults rallying to manage to have compost next to the school canteen or the maintenance of gardens set up for this project.
We also hope to see a noticeable improvement of the schools atmospheres as all members of the school community will benefit from a nicer environment to the creation of which everyone will have contributed in solidarity.
The outcomes will also be appreciated by the awaited change of our students behaviours towards consumption as small actions can have a stong impact. For example the cessation of shattering school gears such as pens or rulers, the stoppage of blind obediance to fashion, abandoning habits of eating out of season fruits or vegetable are signs we are hoping to notice.
Our project aspires at warning the new generation against amorality of consuming society in order to bring attentive, demanding but mainly more optimistic young people confident in their ability to build up changes.
