Project Summary
Our project is multilateral and different subjects at each school are involved. Many students and teachers will be involved: we create a project for the whole school. Two main aspects: scientific and more daily life related. Other aspects: artistic and creative (drawing, writing, dramatizing and singing). We plan a combination of presentations from each country and comparisons (differences, similarities). Pupil and teacher mobility throughout the school year (international weeks twice a year) give the project a real European dimension and give students the chance how young fellow Europeans think about water connected to mankind. It’s also a chance to present their culture and to meet and learn of other cultures.
”Bonded by Water” (BYTE) has three important elements:
• water
• Life
• Us
The title will function as an umbrella and give the possibilities for sub-projects directly connected with the main topics of the project. In some sub-projects all countries participate while some others are bilateral or have 3-4 partners
“WATER (scientific) is linked to the importance of rain and water in life and leads to themes as: changing climate, sustainable energy, water and health
These subjects can/will be involved: Mother language, English, Natural science, Biology, Social science, Dramatics, Music, Film, Mathematics, Geography, Chemistry and Information technology (see more D3).
LIFE and US (social) are linked to our daily lives. Almost the same subjects as mentioned above are involved and make it possible to include the project in our curriculums. Students make presentations and reports about the importance of water in our daily lives (similarities, differences, what make us Europeans etc.), the European water policy considering that the protection of water resources, of fresh and salt water ecosystems and of the water we drink and bathe in is therefore one of the cornerstones of environmental protection in Europe, issues that transcend national boundaries, and concerted action at the level of the EU ( institutions and citizens) is necessary to ensure effective protection.
Artistic/Creative aspect: students write essays, short stories connected to the project and/or make short movies/videos. Also the students dramatize, make performances and we add some music to our common meetings and performances. In the Artistic/Creative aspect, the students lso could make a sculpture with recycled materials collected from sea/beach.
