Project Summary
The partnership of the MASTER project is composed of six EU schools (IT, EE, PT, SL, RO, BG) that share the same educational objectives: social inclusion, common values, contrast to bullying and prejudices. All the schools have already developed projects linked to Human Rights as a strategy to foster the school community awareness about this theme. All partners firmly believe their cooperation and sharing of good practices about Human Rights can help the schools to improve education of both students and teachers.
As consequence, MASTER will develop topics corresponding to the EU fundamental values: Dignity, Freedom, Equality, Solidarity, Citizenship, Justice. Each involved school will exchange its own practices and lead activities within one chosen value on the basis of its experience.
The objective is to raise the awareness of students, teachers and school communities by developing their skills and attitudes according to principles on human rights, and to help them to become active, responsible, and open-minded members of society.
Specific objectives:
1. to reinforce the development of students’ social, civic and intercultural competences
2. to ensure inclusive education for all students
3. to foster students’ critical thinking and media literacy
4. to enhance teachers’ competences in meeting the needs of all pupils and in teaching common fundamental values
5. to foster development of innovative, integrated approaches at school system level
6. to strengthen cooperation and (intercultural) dialogue with families and local stakeholders
7. to reinforce the European dimension of the involved schools.
MASTER wants to:
– educate ABOUT Human Rights: through comprehension of principles related to Human Rights and mechanisms to save them
– educate THROUGH Human Rights: through development and implementation of approaches that will respect the students’ and teachers’ rights
– educate FOR Human Rights, providing instruments to students and teachers to practice their own rights and to respect and defend the rights of others.
After the first teachers’ training (video-making and didactic methodologies), the project will be organized in 6 steps in which each partner will lead activities in the area chosen among those included in the EU fundamental values.
In every step, all schools will develop project activities in virtual and physical mobility. The partners are also committed to strengthen collaborations with local stakeholders. Each school will host one physical mobility with students on the fundamental value chosen. The schools will also carry out activities for the realization of videos/short-films promoting the project: each school will produce at least one video per year.
Direct beneficiaries actively involved in the activities will be:
– about 750 students (aged 15-17 years), 160 teachers and staff involved in mobility and in activities at schools
– about 600 families involved in sending/hosting students and in local activities
– other stakeholders active in human rights and citizenship education.
MASTER will use active didactic methodologies such as cooperative learning, service learning, group working, learning by doing, brain storming, problem
solving, creative writing.
Expected results:
1. strengthened key competences and improved scholastic results of students
2. fostered students’ awareness of human rights, enhanced critical thinking, responsible use of Internet, developed resistance to all forms of discrimination, (cyber)bullying and hate speech
3. improved, more inclusive and innovative teaching methods and approaches at schools
4. multisystem approaches and development strategies at schools
5. enhanced active and responsible citizenship and fostered cooperation with local stakeholders
6. strengthened EU dimension, tolerance and intercultural competences; developed collaborations of partner-schools.
MASTER will be monitored throughout its life cycle and assessed in itinere and ex post. The evaluation plan, based on a dashboard of indicators, will allow to verify if and to which extent the project achieves the objectives, the expected results and to assess the level of user satisfaction.
The project is sustainable: the schools will adopt the shared and experienced methods and approaches, such as: service learning; mindfulness; debate; active inclusion and non-discrimination practices; interactive didactics; improvisation theatre; solidarity in education; volunteering at schools; anti-(cyber)bullying strategies; compassionate classroom; creative education, ICT/videomaking in didactics; outdoor learning; future classroom. The schools plan to continue their collaborations and to develop new international projects, also with use of eTwinning.
The dissemination plan aims to inform, train and make aware all the stakeholders. Dissemination activities will cover all the project stages and will enhance the project’s results from the first day of its implementation.
