Project Summary
The collaborative project called “Europing” between The Spanish Secondary school “El Carrascal” and the Irish Secondary school “Mount Sion CBS” came about due to the lack of information and knowledge about Europe, which is our common ground, that the teachers from both schools observed in our students. In our previous project “Learning together and from each other”, we had a short term exchange which was so successful that we decided to keep on collaborating in another project together regarding the topic “Europe”. This project will last for 22 months since it encompasses two different mobilities: a short one and a long one for students. During the first year, 15 Spanish students and 15 Irish students between 15 and 16 years old, will be able to work on the topic “The European Union”, its origins, its work throughout history, the countries that integrate it and the languages spoken. Furthermore, the students will be able to visit in Brussels, the “Parlamentarium”, the “hemicicle” and the “Europe Museum”, as well as talking to a European Parliamentarian and learn more about it. In addition, 3 Spanish and 3 Irish students between 16 and 17 years old, will be able to experience the life, education and culture for a duration of 2 months in another country thanks to a long mobility stay. Students will be working from the very beginning in the eTwinning project with the same name “Europing” and will be able to follow virtually all of the activities that will be carried out in both schools about the topic “Europe”. Moreover, “Europe´s day” will be celebrated in both schools in May 2021 in which different activities related to the European Union will be carried out and will be shown in both communities through the press, radio and social media. There will also be a meeting among different schools in the areas to show them the project as well as the possibilities that Erasmus+ offers. The project will finish with a “European day” in June 2022 where all the results obtained during the 2 years will be shown and displayed. We hope after this project all the students from both schools, as well as their relatives and people around them, learn and acquire a wider and stronger European knowledge and we hope this will be also included in both schools´curriculum and hopefully it will be possible to integrate a subject about the European Union.
