Project Summary
Migration has always been a phenomena and a top topic for Europe. As it was in the past decades, nowadays huge numbers of people coming to Europe or migrating within Europe. One of the most important precedence of the European Union is to see that we have partners, that no country has to work on problems alone. There may be problems but there is also a great bound of the union to solve these problems. Enhancing tolerance towards people from other countries is a main objective. Our project aims at establishing intercultural dialogue and promote openness, understanding, respect for the other, combat ignorance, gender inequality, prejudice, racism and xenophobia in order to avoid conflicts in and outside our home regions.
We believe that both being tolerant and living according to our values and culture are possible in today’s world. It is possible to develop the cultural awareness and diversity in the society. By that way we may have a great chance to build economical, social and political advantages of this curicial situation. By managing this process, there will be new social and political challenges as well. Cultural diversity often triggers fear and rejection. Stereotyping, racism, xenophobia, intolerance, discrimination and violence can threaten peace and the very essence of local and national communities.
In a general sense, the main purposse of the project is to learn to live together peacefully in a multicultural world and to develop a sense of community. Intercultural dialogue can be a very important tool for the prevention of conflicts by enhancing the respect for human rights, democracy and the rule of law.
Martin Luther once said: ” We cannot long survive spiritually separated in a world that is geographically together.” This quote perfectly underlines one of our main aims. We want to get to know each other, cultures within Europe, but also cultures that come to Europe will eventually influence our life, just like it was in the past centuries. That is an inevitable fact for all of us.
The motto of the European Union is “Unity in diversity”. Comprehension towards each other and for everybody is the milestone to develop the real European identity. Our project offers to students a great opportunity to learn and embrace the differences between different cultures. It will help them become aware of both their own values and the ones belonging to the partner countries. Meeting new friends from other cultures is an amazing chance for young people. It will also enrich the cultural awareness between the young for sure.
The other purpose of the project is to train individuals as well. It is a live and learning process for the individuals as to approach the others with respect and understand to different cultures, recognize diversity, see culture as an area for creating not demanding resources. It also designs a way for creating economic and social sustainability.
Main goals of the project as listed below:
● To share visions of the world, to understand and learn from others
● To identify similarities and differences between different cultural traditions and perceptions;
● To achieve an oneness on necessity of nonviolent approach
● To help manage cultural diversity in a democratic manner, by making the necessary adjustments to all types of recent social and political regulations;
● To bridge the divide between those who perceive diversity as a threat and those who view it as an enrichment;
● To share best practices particularly in the areas of intercultural dialogue, the democratic management of social diversity and the promotion of social structure;
The main target group of this project is students that are the owners of future.That is why all our activities are student oriented and can only be accomplished with their participation. The aim of the these activities is to enable the students to gain knowledge and abilities that they can use in future.
Pupils will become more open-minded and welcoming to other cultures through the experiences gained in the project. We hope that they will make use of the good opportunities offered by the European Union and become well-informed “European” citizens with and understanding of European and global issues.
Once for all the project will help pupils gain better awareness of other European cultural heritage and their own cultural and local heritage values. This helps them reflect on how their surroundings have influence in their process of becoming citizens. This should promote a healthy interaction with the local built heritage and the development of citizenship values. It is so curicial to learn about European rights and oppurtunities legally offered to all. This issue mainly creates the purpose of our project.
