Project Summary

CONTEXT
Gender inequality is still a big issue for the European Union, despite all European efforts. The factors are different: education that places the woman in a position to be subject to the man’s will and power; early childhood education and patriarchal thinking (little girls have to play with dolls and boys with cars); misleading readings of religious texts; Mass media and fashion industry power, building up false value systems; political views promoting women’s inferiority; prejudice like ‘sweet soft female’ and ‘strong male.’ The effects of these facts are: recognition by women of low standards generated by false value systems; acceptance of social / economic dependence on men; poor self-esteem, lack of confidence in one’s own strengths, recognition of a humble situation, compliance with the roles that men pre-establish for them – caregivers, baby-bearers, housewives. While it appears in recent years that the situation has changed, at least on the surface level, we still see a wide range of forms of prejudice and abuse of women
OBJECTIVES
1. Promoting the gender equity mindset of at least 70 percent of male and female students
2. encouraging role models for women in all cultures-minimum 50 examples
3. Analyzing gender-related mindset changes from past to present in partner countries
4. Raising awareness of and protecting women’s rights
5. Fostering student civic participation and having at least 40 per cent of participants in social activities
6. Encouraging intercultural interaction and understanding
7. Developing soft skills for students – communication, critical and creative thinking, team spirit, motivation, etc.

MAIN ACTIVITIES
We have organized five cross-border events, including a range of local activities, conducted by all of the interested partners.
C1 – Roles of women – current and past (reports about how women are viewed in all cultures)
C2 – Mighty women – examples of pioneers in different fields
C3 – Women’s Rights – women’s rights activists, national and global regulations, national services,, etc.
C4 – Women as victims of brutality – domestic violence, trafficking, mandatory marriage
C5 – Women’s rights struggles – School-based monitoring programs, campaign organization
All 5 exchanges are combined with virtual interchanges where, within a month from the end of the physical exchange, the students present their work on the subject.
RESULTS
We will deliver the following outputs as a result of the project activities: initial and final questionnaires for assessing students ‘attitudes to and perceptions of gender equality, presentations and brochures of women’s models around countries and cultures (at least 50), Interviews of successful women, reports and statistics on gender discrimination and violence against women, documentary films about pioneering figures in the defense of women’s rights, student campaigns, artworks – posters, photographs, videos, dissemination conferences, the final output that will contain all the data and the work of the students throughout the project.

PARTICIPANTS
At the beginning of the project, we will choose the project’s key working group, based on the letter of intent and recommendations of the students and teachers. We expect every school to have a community of at least 30 students (150 sts). ). They will participate in the work between mobilities, take part in e-Twinning conferences, do research, produce materials and artwork. We will pick 6/country from these students for each exchange (120 sts), based on their participation in the activities preceding the exchange, English level, etc.
IMPACT
The Erasmus+ project will offer benefits to all of the partner institutions at all stages.
First of all, the institutions increase their mobility for students and also the mobility for teachers. These participants will bring new ideas and experiences to the school which they experience in partner schools. This will also inspire students and create an environment of collaboration and team work within the school, in which all interested people will feel involved.
Participants can also develop individually and professionally, which will be translated into their everyday life.
Second, the schools will be develop an international network that improves the school’s international reputation and attractiveness within local communities. Schools are also improving the relations with local authorities, unions, NGOs and local community leaders – parents, grandparents.
