Project Summary
According to the year end report of our school counciling and phychology department, we indicated that the most important problem is “Peer Bullying”. In addition to our local activities, we started an e-Twinning project. Firstly, we implemented e-Twinning activities on peer bullying with our foreign partners at different schools at different times. Then, we decided to start a school exchange partnership project in order to face to face communication with students and teachers of the partner countries.
We based our project on finding permanent and effective solutions for “Peer Bulliying” as European aspect. It’s very important for us to get the grant for our project due to increasing the success of our students, also increasing their self confidence of those students who got peer bullied.
The objectives of the project is helping those students who are under the risk of social exclution via creating opportunities and gaining the basic skills for integrating them into the social and cultural life. Not only “ Supporting individuals in acquiring and developing basic skills and key competences ” but also “Social inclusion “ are our priorities while implementing our project for them to reach the life standarts known as “normal” in the society where they live. With the results of acquired qualifications of those students who got peer bullied, we will be able to minimise peer bullying and increase the academic success in our schools to become a “model school” are all related to “Developing strong quality assurance systems.”
Turkey is the coordinator of the six partner schools in the project which is named “PEER BULLYING AND ALTERNATIVE SOLUTIONS IN EUROPEAN ASPECT ” with the budget of 190.690,00 EURO in 24 months period. The project partners are Portugal, Italy, Poland, Chezch Republic and the UK.
The target group of our project is 11-14 aged students. The participants of our project are school principals and also the students and the teachers who are involved in those classes where peer bullying is experienced the most. Those students who have socio-economic disadvantages will participate in the project activities pro-actively. The teachers who participate in the project activities will be responsible with the security of participant students, furthermore they will provide those students to take part in activities efficiently and increase their skills about the subject. Additionally the teachers will develop their vocational capabilities.
In total, 600 students who will take part in the project activities from all participant schools will be the effective practitioners in local and transnational mobilities. Those students will also participate e-Twinning project activities and they will share their knowledge with their friends and in their family circle. The families who take part in the project activities not only will support their children in transnational mobilities if necessary (in case of the mobilities with disabled students) but also they will support them in local activities.
There will be 5 short terms of group of pupils’ mobilities with the participating of 4 students and 2 teachers and 1 short term of personal staff training with the participating of 4 teachers. Totally 100 students and 70 teachers will take part in the mobilities according to the programme below:
Portugal –November 2020 WHY PEER-BULLYING?
Italy –April 2021 STOP PEER BULLYING, LET’S BE FRIENDS!
Poland-June 2021 PREVENTING PEER BULLYING
Chezch Republic-September 2021 PEER BULLYING ON THE SCENE
Turkey-April 2022 COLORS ARE NICE TOGETHER
UK-June 2022 SHOW YOUR GOODWILL
The responsibilities and the missions of the partner schools are determined in a common decision. Excluding of LTT activities, each partner school will do the local activities on their own and cooperate preparing the concrete results such as logo, banner, t-shirt, cap, bag, rozette and calender.
Conference, planning, group work, drama, games, drawing, presentation, survey and discussion are the technics and methods to be used in carrying out the project.
The results and impact envisaged are decreasing in the number of peer bullying cases and students who cannot truly express themselves and also nonattendance because of being bullied at schools. Increasing in the number of students who can socialize easily and express themselves, participate in social activities and projects, also increasing in the rate of academic success and satisfaction according to the students- parents survey.
We are going to ensure sustainability of the project by integrating the project results into our lesson plans and applying the activities even the project finishes.
The potential longer term benefits are developing qualities in education and improving our visions with the project’s outputs, equility of gender and opportunity, knowledge, practice and experience in peer bullying, awareness of European Union citizenship and making new eTwinning and Erasmus+ projects with the partners
