Project Summary

Youth initiative project “Youth Participation – From small steps to big achievements“ is long-term International strategic partnership project. Aim of the project is to increase involvement of young people in decision-making process. We find that young people are not involved enough in basic decision-making processes.
Nowadays representative democracy is more and more developed, but there is also participatory democracy, which is also important or perhaps even more important. In local level it is essential to involve organizations and individuals to increase democracy, but it is common that there is lack of knowledge about these methods. During the project young people can learn methods, which helps to involve also young people in decision-making process. These methods are based on partners experiences in their countries.
“From small steps to big achievements” will put together 5 partner countries, who will share, teach and analyze methods that are used in involvement of young people in decision-making processes at local level. During 13 months participants will put 5 these methods in to practice. There will be 4 international meetings – one is meeting of contact persons and three others are participants study-and analysis meeting. First two are organized in Estonia and during these meetings other countries can get to know Estonian young people participation field. The last two are organize in Macedonia and Hungary.
This project will raise awareness and teach participants different methods and possibilities to involve young people in the decision-making process, will create a strong and competent network of youth leaders and will provide a guide, that can be shared and used to improve involvement of young people in decision-making processes.
This project is small step closer to get young people more involved in local level decision-making processes.
