Project Summary

The project originated as the continuation of the cooperation of two grammar schools – the Slovak Gymnázium Antona Bernoláka in Námestove and the Czech Wichterlovo gymnázium Ostrava –Poruba grammar schools. The two grammar school have been cooperating in different areas for over five years. They implemented the common project in 2014. Following an effort to further promote the cooperation, Mendele Grammar School in Opava, the school with a similar curriculum, has got involved in the project. All the three schools deal with the common issues, that is why we have decided to share the views and learn from one another, to present the skills and knowledge of their students.The project includes two main goals.1/ the development of the skills and competencies of the teaching staff of the schools involved who will directly participate in the project activities in the form of classroom observation – shadowing;2/ enhancing the attractiveness of science subjects by means of Information and communications technology (ICT) in the learning process / the implementation into various subjects taught / enhancing the output in science subjects by implementing the theory into practice / the opportunutity to test the knowlodge in given subject areas and problems in The World of Science, Ostrava.Two direct target groups will be innvolved in the project activities:1/ the teaching staff of the individual schools who will participate in the class observation in partner schools including the following subjects : Mathematics, Physics, Biology, IT , English, German, French and Russian languages, and History – the total of 20 teachers from the grammar school in Námestovo, 10 teachers from the Wichterle Grammar School Ostrava –Poruba, 10 teachers from Mendele Grammar School Opava;2/ the students of the schools involved, who will participate in the short-term student exchange activity – 20 students from the grammar school in Námestovo, 10 students from the Wichterle Grammar School Ostrava –Poruba, 10 students from Mendele Grammar School Opava;Project activities :- shadowing – class observation at the schools involved – the output – a CD with new forms and methods of work implementing different ICT;- short-term student exchange activity – the students will participate in the learning process at the partner school and will present their schools from their vantage points, their theoretical knowledge will be tested and put into practice at The World of Science, Ostrava, as a part of an experimental lesson;- deling with a science problem throughout the year / based on the selection by a teacher / from the science subjects point of view;- The Presentation day at The World of Science, Ostrava, the final presentation of the problem solution – each school will present their own solution to the problem; other secendary school will be invited to join the activity to learn the school, teaching staff, student cooperation opportunities;The project outcome:1/ the cooperation of the schools of the same type – the cooperation with Wochterle Grammar School will be enhanced both on the school management and the staff levels; getting in touch and activity implementation with Mendele Grammar School in Opava will promote this cooperation; conditions for further common activities in other areas will be set, to be benefitial for all schools involved; 2/ enhancing the skills and competencies of the teaching staff involved in the shadowing activities – new forms and methods of teaching mainly science, foreign language, history subjects by menas of ICT applications;3/ developing the manual for new methods and forms of teching for other teachers of grammar schools participating in the project in the form of a CD / based on the shadowing activities / – for the subject groups of the subject involved;4/ improving the presentation skills of the grammar school students – presenting the given topic on the final Presentation Day at The World of Science, Ostrava;5/ promoting the interest in science subjects and Mathematics by means of implementing the pratical application of theoretical knowledge at The World of Science;6/ improving the presentation skills of the participating students; 7/ information leaflet for the publicizing at local, regional, but also national and international levels;Impact:1/ developing and enhancing the cooperation between the school management of Gymnázium Antona Bernoláka Námestovo a Wichterlovo gymnázium Ostrava-Poruba grammar schools;2/ getting in touch and developing the cooperation with a new partner – Mendelovo Gymnázium Opava grammar school;3/ enhancing the skills and competencies by means of class observation activities of the participating teachers;4/ implementing new ICT Technologies in the teaching process – applications for individual subjects; 5/ developing the cooperation between the teachers of individual subjects of the participating schools;6/ demonstrative examples of implementing theoretical
