Project Summary

“Limitless partnerships for youth development ”

The Background for the partnership is a long-standing informal cooperation between youth, employees , municipalities and counties in Norway and in Sweden. In this cooperation, youth , policy makers and staff regularly meet for joint work . EU’s youth program has supported this work. This regional work as well as the municipality’s regular work has led to the establishment of youth councils in almost all municipalities in Helgeland. The young people who took part in this work has through dialogue both internally and with decision makers ( mayors / councilors ) promoted a desire that there should be an effort to formalize and quality raise the established cooperation between municipalities , regions and countries.

The parties in this application has been the core of this work from 2007 to 2014 .

The motivation for the work and the positive signals from policymakers have several starting points , where the most important is the understanding that youth is a resource for the community and that participation work can help to make Helgeland to a better region, but also be an inspiration to other municipalities in their work with youth involvement.

Based on this discussion, the partners want a strategic partnership in which the main objectives should be:

1 ) Establishment of regional youth councils in Helgeland with fixed meeting points against decisions makers .

2 ) Strengthen the competence of adults working with children and young people’s involvement in Norway and Sweden with establishment of the competence network.

3) Explore the feasibility of establishing a formal body for youth participation in Västerbotten County

4 ) Planning and development of ideas of how to strengthen the participation of young people with challenges. ( Innovation and Entrepreneurship in Social Work )
