Project Summary

Based on the long-standing town twinning of Odense (DK) and Schwerin (D), we would now like to strengthen and above all expand the school partnership between Mulernes Legatskole and BSWV Schwerin within the framework of the Erasmus+ program. The two schools have already been cooperating in the subject German for several years.
The school partnership was established with the aim of establishing and maintaining an exchange of students between the two schools. Especially the Danish learners of German benefit from “lively language instruction” with native speakers.
Therefore, the encounters between the students in Odense and in Schwerin were particularly important. The German exchange students were heavily involved as learning partners in the various German courses. They organized the lessons with small contributions and were mainly active as contact persons for the Danish students.
During the student exchange the students acquire intercultural skills through active encounters in the other country and through participation in everyday life and school life. For the German pupils, the acquisition of competence through the transfer of their own knowledge is also an additional aspect. The Schwerin pupils are available as homework helpers and as tandem learning partners. The Danish pupils experience the foreign language to be learned in the real language area and also from and with peers. This opens up new language levels and challenges. However, using the foreign language in everyday life is the greatest benefit for a language learner. The students got to know the guests and automatically compared their everyday life, so that all participants became aware that there is more in common than what separates them. A realization that both the Danish and German students have grown from.
The area of teacher mobility was also very profitable and above all led to the school partnership achieving a higher level of awareness and acceptance in the schools. Through mutual observation visits and project meetings, the partner schools were able to question their own work and discuss problems, some of which were solved jointly. In the course of 2019, a media group developed a concept for media education and digitization for the BSWV in Schwerin in accordance with government guidelines. Fortunately, we were able to help the media group to clarify direct questions with the digitally experienced teaching staff and school management on site in Odense with an observation and workshop meeting. These results could then be incorporated into the media education concept. This is an important contribution to the school and quality development of the partner schools. This corresponds to the project title Learning from each other together.
During the course of the project, we exchanged about 45 students aged 18-19 years and about 15 teachers
The project results can be viewed via the usual platforms. In spite of the high digital design of the daily teaching routine at the Mulernes Legatskole in Odense and our efforts, it was not possible to bring the etwinning platform into the daily teaching routine. However, it serves both schools to exchange pictures and files, as well as learning materials.
In addition to the digital services, we were able to bring the respective partner schools more into the consciousness of pupils and teachers by means of the resulting decorations and information boards. An important step for both partner schools.
