Project Summary
The Ardennes and Castille are ideally located as regards their opening onto Europe. This is the reason why two schools have decided to organize an exchange to develop their professional and language skills.
Our two schools are already involved in Erasmus projects and have decided to work together and to offer our students a new approach to learning. Indeed this partnership will enable us to exchange our recipes, our know-how as well as our techniques and traditions. Both countries have a strong gastronomic identity which is worth sharing .The theme which has been chosen is the presentation of the two countries’ different regions and their seasonal local produce.
One of the main goals of this project is to improve the language skills of our students thanks to an active training prior to the exchange but also thanks to the students’ cooperation. They will also gain autonomy while doing their daily work and will benefit from the support and help of all their teachers. This 2-year partnership will result in the elaboration of a recipe book and a glossary. The use of new technologies will be another important goal because the two schools will have to use social networks, word processing programs, new applications as well as the new eTwinning interface in order to communicate. We will also insist on the necessity for innovation in the hospitality industry which must always evolve and provide guests with new offers. The students will take part in innovative projects such as a “gastronomy food lab” and a micro-brewery which both imply prior explanations along with the development of professional and technical skills.
First, the exchanges will be virtual before becoming real thanks to the Erasmus mobilities which will be the key moments of this partnership.
Another key component of this partnership will be the fight against school drop-out through the development of their perseverance. Thanks to these exchanges with their Spanish colleagues, our students will learn differently and will be given a mission : transfer their knowledge to their friends. This partnership will enable them to see school differently.
This experience will have consequences on different levels. First of all, inside the schools, the students will participate in the same project and discover the culinary world of both France and Spain. There will also be a regional impact because our schools will work together to offer the students a high-scale training. Obviously, dozens of young learners will make the most of this human and linguistic experience. Travelling broadens the mind and enables people to get a deeper insight in their culture and know-how while respecting them. Travelling means developing tolerance which is one of the key values of the educational process in Europe and one we absolutely want to pass on to our children.
