Project Summary

The Partnership for Media Education was an innovative project that brought together four adult education organisations – Together Luxembourg, Connect from Slovenia, Together Czech Republic and Rexlegis from Croatia. It enabled the organisations to share their experience and good practices and work strategically in the field of media education. The two-years co-operation gave an opportunity to create new and innovative practices and methodologies to teach adult learners how to work with media.

The project included a wide range of activities. Firstly, the partners identified existing resources and know-how in the field of media education and made these available to the other partners. They then used these to develop innovative set of non-formal education methodology to promote media education. This was tested during two international seminars for 36 adult learners. These took the form of a blended mobility. There were virtual preparation activities before the seminars, including one-on-one Skype conferences with the participants to prepare them. This was followed by a 7-days international seminar. The seminar included a variety of simulation and role games, practical workshops, presentations, discussions, small group and plenary sessions. We also produced a newsletter as a result of each seminar. The methodology was tested and evaluated during the first seminar and then improved and repeated again during the second seminar. The first seminar took place in Luxembourg and the second one in Prague, Czech Republic.

There were three partnership meetings between educational staff in the organisations. The Kick-Off Meeting in Slovenia started the project and enabled partners to exchange their existing resources. The Mid-Term Meeting in Czech Republic helped to evaluate the project in the middle and finalise the methodology for the first seminar. The Final Meeting in Luxembourg served to evaluate the project, finalise the tangible results, prepare the dissemination strategy and discuss follow-up projects.

The result of the project are new non-formal education methodology and innovative ICT tools to complement physical mobility. As part of the project, we prepared a website containing all the results and a Handbook of Media Education for Adult Learners containing methodological tools which can be used in adult education towards media literacy. All of these were made available to the public and widely disseminated to adult education organisations.
