Project Summary

The project is educational and aimed at young people, especially in Poland and Germany, but not only, also from Lithuania, Ukraine and Belarus. The participating organizations are two non-governmental organizations, one of which statutory purpose is carrying out educational activities and promoting the dissemination of the Polish national heritage. The main goal is to promote the idea of an active and unyielding attitude of helping those in need. They should follow the example of those who acted for the sake of their fellow men even in the most inhuman circumstances. We selected a group of young people who were the most interested and showed empathy. It was achieved through a series of meetings and with the help of relevant publication. Together we run several activities aimed at promoting humane attitudes and willingness to aid others. Afterwards we run a few-days-long „travelling” workshops for the most active participants of the project and leaders of youth organizations. Their aim was to train young people in building up their own projects promoting attitudes firmly defending dignity of one’s own and of others. The above mentioned activities resulted in establishing a “Fraternity” which set up basis for common movement of youth and educators. Its formula will involve wide range of youth and will enable them to multiply achievements of the project in the future. Publications, an educational movie and the social and educational portal produced during the project should win over new groups and generations of youth to follow the path outlined by the “unyielding”, create their own projects, and encourage young people to protect human dignity not only in times of danger, but also in everyday life. Participation of leaders of groups and youth organizations from EU helped instill in those organizations ideas promoted by our project. In future it should allow for continuous fulfilment of aims that have been conceived. Conference organized at the end of the project allowed to present and promote its results as well as to draw successive educators and young people to ideas and activities involved. Carrying out the above project is of particular importance at the present time, when immigration crisis divides EU members. Developing in young people – through informal education – attitudes advocating helping those in need, with particular stress on human dignity, is in great demand. “Fraternity” and portal will continue to increase the number of youth involved and bring them closer to the values of social solidarity over time.
