Project Summary
The aim of the project is our continuing incentive to engage students and teachers at the involved schools in a wide range of activities concerning the ideas of “sustainability” and “citizenship”. As the challenges of a sustainable lifestyle are so manifold, we shifted our focus to the complementing areas ‘food’ and ‘participation and responsibility’ and ‘the good life’. Broader issues such as ‘responsibility of the individual in society’ and ‘social justice’ in each partner’s home countries – as well as on a European level – were addressed, and have hopefully impacted attitudes and inspired hands-on ideas for local solutions.
In addition to the regular courses at the schools, the preparation for the project, the exchange and evaluation of the exchange visits were the core element and centrepiece of the project. They have served as powerful motivators for students and project partners to identify with the project. Each partner school had its own arrangements as to how and where students were engaged in preparation and on-going development of the themes. In Berlin, the implemented course has been a regular platform for working regularly on the topics. The result of the activities has been distributed among Emmy Noether students in workshops, exhibitions, cooking classes, and a summer party event involving the whole school.
