Project Summary

Music for Peace has as the main aim to provide teachers and students at secondary education schools with the means to work on equity and inclusion-including refugees-, CLIL and active methodologies using music as the vehicle to incorporate all this at school.

This project emerges from the need Secondary students have to develop competences, skills and strategies they don’t usually work in a regular class.

Within this taking care of diversity we’d like to draw attention to the following two principles: equity and inclusion.
hus, we have decided to mingle music, learning by doing and refugees in a single project.

Some of the objectives of our project are:

– Develop innovative outputs for students covering basic and transversal skills: music, English (clil), civic competences plus maths and literacy.
– Engage into intensive dissemination and exploitation activities of newly produced products.
– Improve the students’ skills, especially those of low performers.
– Promote the inclusion of students under risk of exclusion and migrants, particularly refugees.
– Create new methods and approaches to be incorporated to the curriculum which are innovative, student centred, multi and and interdisciplinary.
– Work on the synergies of the participant organisations -which belong to diferent fields of education- in order to achieve the main aims of the project.
– Promote the collaboration among European organisations and their participation in European Programmes, such as Erasmus+.

The idea of the Project lies in the carrying out of two major activities: a core of didactic units realted to music and war/peace episodes and a didactic concert. All of them will be addressed to Secondary Students (15-17 years old) at State Secondary Schools in the regions of the Three participant organsiations (Turkey, Italy and Spain). At the same time the organisations will be able, during the transnational meetings –among others- to Exchange their expreciences and expertise.
Being this an educational project we are inspired by constructivist pedagogy. The project has a holistic approach and uses different types of methods, resources and tools adapted to the specific activity. We believe this to be a realistic and appropriate way to produce the expected results.

When dealing with the methodology used for preparing and implementing the project as such we must bear in mind the following principles:

1. All the decissions taken will be carried out responding to the instructions given by: The Contract, Erasmus+ Guide, the Agreement signed by the partners, partner agreements on specific subjects, coordinator instructions.

2. Being this a project to create synergies we will work using a structure in-out-in, this meaning that partners will work and disscuss in the organisations, then their results will be put in common with the rest of organisations (through a respresentative, trying to always use the same people for the same purposes so that everyone has a clear idea on their interlocutor in every matter), where a further decission will be made. This final decission will be transferred to the organisations who will accept the agreement. In order to be functional and operative, this process has been created to be thorough but not to delay the decissions and fulfilment of activities, so exact deadlines will be established and controlled by the coordinator.

3. The different partners will follow the same methods for the different activities and outcomes. For example: we will use the same structure for the transnational meetings, we will select participants using the same processes -always respecting the context and idiosyncrasies of the partners-, we will agree on what expenses are acceptable and elegible -always following the Erasmus+ Guide- under the project manager and implementation budget…

Management of the project will be dealt with following Scrump methodology, and Scrum based apps and software.

When dealing with pedagogical outcomes, we will use an ecclectic methodology, practical, based on previous knowledge and practice. It is based on non-formal methods which stimulate creativity, active participation, iniciative and independence. We will apply different methods to cope with diversity.

The project expects to have a substantial positive impact on the participating organisations and on their staff and learners involved. It is an impact which is expected to remain after the lifetime of the project.
