Project Summary

In the course of the Erasmus+ project “ELM – vision” (European Labor Mobility – students of the partner schools “Drvodjelska Tehnicka Skola” in Vinkovci, Croatia and the “Wilhelm-Normann-Berufskolleg” in Herford, Germany will develop a common vision of the future of labour migration in Europe. To this end first of all the causes and motives for the historically grown labour mobility between the partner countries will be examined. This is done by drawing conclusions about the motives for the growing labour mobility in the EU based on different educational and life paths of young adults in the partner countries. Current developments and challenges, such as the effects of the “corona crisis” on the labour market, will be given special attention.
The project will involve 54 participants directly in international mobilities.
The project aims to create long-term capacity for learning abroad.
The project is also intended to promote the strengthening of the profiles of the teaching profession.

The project is divided into the following project activities and conferences:

P1 September 2020:
Preparation of teacher training and first conferences, selection of participating students

C1 November 2020:
Teacher training “Digital learning paths” in Vinkovci ,5 days
Data privacy, copyright, implementation of digital media for projects, tools and apps for teaching, use of the TwinSpace

P2 November 2020:
Follow-up of the teacher training, use of new media in class, preparation of the first student exchange

P3 February 2021:
Concretion of the preparation for the first student exchange
Setting the agenda, distribution of the students to host families

C2: March 2021
First student exchange in Herford 1 week
Participants: 10 students + 2 teachers from Vinkovci, accommodation in host families
Getting to know the dual system / Insights into the cooperation of the dual partners / Participation in vocational school lessons (workshops) / Company visits (industry and trade) / Involvement of the Chamber of Industry and Commerce / Development of vocational training / Opportunities and risks of labour migration
Development of a common vision for the future, presentation to the district administrator and a member of the German Bundestag, political discussion

P4 April 2021:
Follow-up of the student exchange, editing, documentation and publication of results, preparation of teacher training

C3 June 2021:
Teacher training “Teaching- Learning arrangements based on professional fields of action” in Herford, 5 days
Vocational education and training in the context of growing demands on international competitiveness
Evaluation instruments in vocational education, joint exchanges, insights into teacher training, development of joint professional units on the topic of labour migration for teaching purposes, exchanges with external partners (companies, chambers, …)

P5 August 2021:
Use of the teaching units in class, preparation of the second exchange, workshop fort he future “ELM – vision

C4 September 2021:
Second student exchange in Vinkovci, 1 week
Participants 10 students + 2 teachers from Herford, accommodation in host families
Getting to know the school system / insights into the transition management school – company / participation in lessons (workshops) / company visits (industry and crafts) / involvement of regional actors / historical development of vocational education and training in the post-war period / visit to the memorials in Vukovar, further development of the vision of the future taking into account historical motives for labour migration, presentation to the Mayor and in Croatian Parliament , discussion with politicians

P6 November 2021:
Follow-up of the student exchange, documentation and publication of the project results
Editing of the common vision, preparation of the final conference in Brussels

C5: May 2022:
“Generation Future” moves the EU – Students’ meeting in Brussels, 5 days
Participants: 10 students + 2 teachers from Vinkovci and Herford
Visit of the EP in Brussels / Workshop in the Parliamentary House on the historical development of the EU – focus on labour market / labour migration / presentation of the future vision and discussion with EU politicians / project conclusion / evaluation

P7 July 2022:
Follow-up of the final conference, overall documentation of the project, publication of the project in the TwinSpace, completion of the PDF brochure and the eBook.

In addition, small groups will be exchanged between the conferences and, parallel to the teacher training courses, they will have the opportunity to visit companies in the partner country and, if necessary, complete a practical training course lasting several days. This will involve in particular (prospective) trainees for whom such an exchange programme represents a particular added value. These short-term internships are not applied for via Erasmus+. They are an additional offer to our students.
