Project Summary

The project “With robotics in the future” is written for the students of European schools at the age of 12-16 years. Its main purpose is to show how using programming and building robots with the use of ICT can explore the knowledge of various fields of science. Learning Robotics gives students the ability to play the character of creator, which has the power over his creation. The preparation of the project, building and final product of the work eg.the robot is a combination of computer science, mathematics, mechanics, automatic control, electronics. This combination will allow to follow the progress of technology and take full advantage of its capabilities in areas such as industrial robotics, medical and rehabilitation ones or mobile Robotics. Project will be carried out in the international group, and the main communication language is English, which develops language competences and the ability to work in a culturally diversyfied group. By cooperating with from partner countries students will have the opportunity to discover the differences in technological development, cultural and others. Participation in the project will enable them to acquire knowledge beyond a school, practical knowledge not just theory. Students will also have the opportunity to demonstrate their creativity, imagination, as well as they will become responsible for their own projects, choices and decisions. They will be be able to come to some practical conclusions and will improve their learning skills. All these advantages will increase the chance of getting employment not only in national markets but also international ones.

The project will consist of 4 modules:

Module 1-learning programming with SCRATCH.

Module 2-getting to know the science of Robotics.

Module 3-creating a robot based on simple patterns.

Module 4-building robots on the basis of developed schemas.

To achieve the aims students will be trained in the programming language SCRATCH. Teachers and other participants of the project will be also trained in the terms of constructing simple robots. Sample lesson plans willbe writtenby teachers, as well as schemes of constructions and programming the robots. Most of these materials will be made in English so that they can be used in all schools, and by everyone interestedThe participants will be 18 students from each partner school. They will take part in four students’ exchanges between schools. During these short-term mobilities they will work together on the tasks of robots constructing and programming. There are also four project meetings planned fo teachers. In the context of local actions, between mobilities, students will collect materials, communicate via the Internet, prepare information about the culture and customs of their countries, keep a journal of the project on the e-Twinning and set the results in the TwinSpace. They will display their work also at the website related to the project. Thanks to the innovative approach to the use of Robotics in teaching, students will broaden their knowledge and will be highly motivated to take similar actions on their own. Teachers will learn new teaching methods, enrich their workshop work and the subjects of their teaching will become more attractive for students growing up in the high-tech world.
