Project Summary

OUR PROJECT
“Learning to do business with a new Innovation Camp App”

CONTEXT / BACKGROUND
We believe there is a gap between school and work life that must be recognized and filled.
And we want to reduce this gap by a cooperation between school and work life, building on entrepreneurial methods.

OBJECTIVES OF THE PROJECT
To increase:
1. The students’ employability and improved career opportunities
2. The students’ understanding of what is required in today’s working life
3. Business’s and organizations awareness about the youth skills today
4. Business’s and organizations awareness of their social responsibility

We want to develop relevant and high-quality skills and competences for the participating students and schools through cooperation with businesses and organizations in Italy, Latvia, Sweden and Norway. This to help the students to understand and deal with the working market in Europe in order to get a job.

NUMBER AND PROFILE OF PARTICIPANTS
Four Partner schools, from Italy, Latvia, Sweden and Norway. Each school has experience with entrepreneurship and will participate in the project with 25 mobilities. Italian (Rovereto) and Lativan (Riga) school: General education, Swedish school (Karlstad): Vocational education and Norwegian (Oslo) school: General and Music education

DESCRIPTION OF ACTIVITIES
Four meetings, short-term exchanges:
* Innovation Camp (2-days) working with the concept and testing several versions of the Innovation Camp App (our output)
* Workshops (1 day) developing the Innovation Camp concept into an App
* Company visit
* Lecture on an entrepreneurial topic
* Filling out Europass
* Evaluation of the Project

In between the meetings/in the end of the project:
* App developer/designer make the App in cooperation with the students
* Students present their learning in the project at school
* Students and teachers present the project and results at the project web page
* Transnational meetings: in Riga Sept 2018 to prepare he project + in Brussels May 2020 to sum up the project
* Multiplier events: a common meeting in Brussels May 2020, and several meetings in the four countries

No Innovation Camp App excists by now, and JA Europe, JA Norway (founder of the Innovation Camp concept), and JA Oslo have suggested such an App as our Output, and supports this App project. With this new Innovation Camp App, more students, teachers, businesses, organizations and other stakeholders in Europe and beyond can arrange and participate in Innovation Camps more easy and more people can train entrepreneurial learning.

METHODOLOGY TO BE USED IN CARRYING OUT THE PROJECT
We will use entrepreneurial methods in this project. Entrepreneurship is a dynamic and social process that individually or in partnership, identifies opportunities and does something about these by transforming ideas into practical and targeted activity in a social, cultural or economic context.

In our project the entrepreneurial approach will be expressed in these ways: cooperation between school and work life/organizations, project-oriented and interdisciplinary work, a large degree of co-determination for the students, experience and problem based learning (“learning by doing”), activity based learning and results oriented learning.

THE RESULTS AND IMPACT ENVISAGED
An important and concrete result of this project, will be our Output for all persons that want to use it; the Innovation Camp App.

The students, will, besides the objectives above, get:
* Increased sense of initiative and entrepreneurship
* Increased competence in foreign languages and ICT
* A more active participation in society
* Greater understanding and response to social, ethnic, linguistic and cultural diversity
* A more positive attitude towards the European project and values, which includes free movement of goods, capital, services and labor – the “four freedoms”
* A better understanding and recognition of skills and qualifications in Europe and beyond

The teachers will get:
* Experience, new competence and new methods to create a stimulating learning environment to develop entrepreneurial skills
* Increased cross-cooperation, strenghten ties with businesses, organizations and others
* A better understanding of how a transnational project is prepared, carried out and evaluated

The Associated Partners (businesses and organizations) will hopefully:
* Get an increased awareness about the youth skills today and of social responsibility
* Benefit, develop and be inspired from participating in and being able to influence this project
* Use the App

POTENTIAL LONGER TERM BENEFITS
The Innovation Camp App, will hopefully attract interest from businesses, students and others, and more people will arrange and participate in Innovation Camps more easy, and can train entrepreneurial methods. Which will hopefully make them more employable, more able to do business and participate in work life.

Our project web page will also hopefully be used by several stakeholders.
