Project Summary

Strategic partnership for ensuring personal life management for better work perspectives in disadvantaged regions (MotivAction) involves 4 partners from the education and/or youth sector. The project relevance is based on partners’ experience that youngsters seem unmotivated and/or unable to lead their lives and to become conscious, meaningful, responsible taking and content adults. Partners also involved in a way disadvantaged groups: participants with fewer possibilities. They are students who lack some possibilities, that would be needed for life orientation and for the above described adult life. Partners identified 3 core fields to work on: self-consciousness and personal development; career orientation; financial literacy and entrepreneurship skills. We intend to tackle the problem by a complex way of supporting youngsters, namely the combination of a series of trainings and mentorship program in the three identified fields, completed by a Bank of Possibilities (a webpage containing knowledge, information and personal competence development possibilities). In the beginning of the project, we made an On the spot analysis, to investigate local situation, needs and problems of the target group in these topics. Furthermore, an International Trainers’ Team is formed. It is a group of 10 professionals, representing 3 profiles: trainer, manager, researcher. This is a specialty of the group, and this way various information can be included in the work thanks to the different profiles. The group helps the professional work in the project, especially IO development, and means a sustainability element, as it is responsible for designing new projects, to continue the work started in MotivAction project. Based on the results of the survey, training curricula are developed. First, partners set the common framework (terms, definitions and principles) and then they were free to define concrete training content, in order to fit local needs. Based on this, 2 rounds of trainings and mentorship program were organized, for 2 academic years. In total cc. 170 participants from South Region of Hungary, Eastern Slovenia and Hamminkeln took part. Events were used to support youngsters and to test the curricula, which was developed. Finally, the 3 intellectual outputs contain the curricula of the training, theoretic background, experience of implementation and suggestions for future realization. Targets of the IOs are double: people working with/supporting high school students: trainers, teachers, education stakeholders, as well as organizations/institutions working with youth. The 4. IO is about mentorship: theoretic background on mentor’s roles and functions, mentoring models are followed by mentorship trainings organized in the project and lessons learnt, suggestions formed for the future. This IO also has a double target: mentors and organizations hosting mentorship programs. The specialty of the 4 IOs is that targets can read about three alternative training curricula/mentorship program having the same goals and principles. The transferability of IO-s is guaranteed by the double focus, concrete tools and methods, experience, as well as suggestions and advice for future trainings/mentorship program given to target groups. Besides concrete activities and materials, the project has soft results as well. First, we could realize knowledge transfer and change of consciousness of students and target groups in the Regions on the importance of life motivation, life orientation, and ways leading to proactive, responsible, content adult life, when the individual is in organic relation to the local/regional social context. Second, target groups’ related competences and skills are developed in the project, and they are engaged to continue this development process and to involve others (students can have impact on their peers, while teachers, trainers, mentors can involve high school students). Results of the project are spread in various form. First of all, each partner organized multiplier events, which had double focus: learning occasion for the participants and disseminating project results. Target groups are member of the institutions’ professional networks, as well as teachers, trainers, mentors, youth workers, other education experts of the Regions. Furthermore, other dissemination activities were organized, via the professional network of the organizations and in online forms (website, social media, blogs). Last but not least, the project was a perfect occasion for partners to strengthen their partnership and to drive lessons from project management in difficult times, such as the pandemic situation. The importance of cooperation, communication, flexibility as well as adequate reaction to local and international changes are clearly shown by the project and considered as an important learning experience by partners. We seriously plan to use the results and lessons learnt in the project for further cooperation in European context.
