Project Summary

The project Assistant trainers sharing knowledge (ASK) focused on a group that had not received much attention before: the assistant trainers in youth circuses. Some of the partners had created their own training courses for assistants and were willing to share their expertise and develop their program through the common exchange where as in most of the countries there was absolutely no training available for the assistant trainers. This was the main focus of the project: to create a curriculum for a assistant training, as well as learning material (videos) and guidelines for a circus school in order to support the assistant trainers in their role.

In the project the 11 partners organised five training modules for assistant trainers, circus amateurs interested in becoming assistant trainer, as well as youth circus professionals and trainers of trainers. Together, in a facilitated process, the participants shared their knowledge, gained new skills and created the project outputs. They also made contacts to their colleagues in other European countries.

After the project, a European model curriculum for an assistant trainer course is available. A team of three facilitators finalized the curriculum based on the work by the participants during the masterclasses. In addition, a booklet of circus schools was published in 10 different languages: English, Estonian, Finnish, Flemish, French, German, Italian, Polish, Slovenian and Spanish. 13 videos for assistant trainer training are available on Youtube. All materials can be found at https://www.eyco.org/resources/assistant-trainers/

The project results were disseminated through social media, newsletters, printed materials, different seminars and network meetings, and even post cards with information about each masterclass. Five multiplier events were organised, one of them online, and they gathered more than 210 participants altogether.
